I find it distressing that it appears to be impossible to stop publishing such disgusting material on the Net.

The Internet and the fact that nobody controls it is probably the biggest headache that developed nation governments have to deal with. Man has been around for a long time, and spying or monitoring on what people did was always possible. One hundred years ago, you’d follow them, 80 years ago; you might have ‘tapped’ a line to eavesdrop a conversation. In the war, Enigma was eventually cracked, in later times, the Capehurst Tower to monitor what was going on in NI. However in the last few years, we’ve entered a new era where average Joe Public can encrypt their data such that no amount of CPU will ever crack it.

To a government, this is probably a bit of a mind fu%k and they are struggling to get their head around the fact that you or I can do something which they can’t control. If you think about it, how many other things in life can you do which can’t be controlled?
Asking ISP’s to control content is a complete waste of time and money, and I think that the more you try to so, the more it goes underground and then there is even less and less you can do about it.
