iPhone 5 twice as slow as Android rivals.........

Jack, with all the problems that Apple seem to be having it may make good business sense to ditch the Apple brand and come back as something else.

How long do you and Jon give them? I'm prepared to take a wager, money where the mouth is and all that. By the way you're going on they'll be bankrupt in 6 months, so how about we make a wager that they'll still be around in 2 years?

Not really, the iPhone is still very current and still Apple's latest offering. When people look for a new phone (in general) they look at what is current in the market place.

I wonder how the iphone 5 stacks up against the Galaxy s3. The s3 is an older phone than the i5 and my bet is the s3 is better in many ways. I had an iphone 4 for 3 years, when i had a play on a mates i5 i couldn't really see much difference. The phone was larger but the screen was only a few mill larger. Slightly better camera and that was about it as far as i could tell. The s3 on the other hand was a very different tool.

That may be so but you can't expect the article to speculate on likely performance of a phone that doesn't exist, aside from the fact that Apple are very secretive on future devices. Like I said, the article is based on latest existing offerings. If you decide you want to wait for next release, well you could wait forever as there will always be another better faster device.

Why are you such a fan of a huge greedy corporation? They have been ripping their customers off for years with over pricing and cheap build quality. On top of that they treat there chinese workers like slaves causing many to kill themselves. I just can't understand what there is to be such a fan about?

But my point was the s3 from my experience is a better device than the i5. So if you're now saying there landfill and don't stack up against the s4 it doesn't look good for apple.

As a long time customer I definitely don't feel ripped off. People on here thought I was mental buying an iMac for £1000 in 2006, they could get me a desktop machine with bigger numbers for £500. What they didn't mention was that the machine would require a teenager in the house to keep it up to date, a toolbox to repair and upgrade failing components, extra software to perform simple tasks, antivirus software... it's all hidden cost. And where would that £500 machine be now, that's right, landfill.
I love that you somehow think other computers are assembled by highly paid virgins in south London and that your plastic laptop is better built than a Macbook honed out of a single block of aluminium. Amazing what marketing can do to peoples opinions.

You're a victim of marketing. Your arguments have been fed to you, you haven't formed your own opinions.

i dont think anyone thinks they will go bust, the thinking is that they will hold much less comercial value, basicly go back to where they were a few years ago.

Cheap build quality? Come again the iphones are all aluminium cases with glass fron/back. How is that cheap build quality in comparison to a plastic Samsung with a glass screen?

My DSLRs are made of a polycarbonate which is very strong, they certainliy don't feel cheap and they stand up to plenty of abuse. So the idea that plastic = cheap builld quality is simply wrong,
Most mobile phones are, in fact, plastic covered. It doesn't seem to have been an issue for people, but now Apple bring out something shiny (and expensive) suddenly all the others are "cheap". They are cheaper, that's for sure! But cheap?
I have an S4, it certainly doesn't feel any less cheap or less well built then my wife's iPhone. My colleagues S3 does though, I have to say.
As for Jack's comment about being a victim of marketing, oh the irony!
Geezer

I will re-cap just for you. 3 PHONES IN TWO YEARS DUE TO FAULTS !
1st phone the screen packed up within 3 months.
2nd phone switched off and would not turn on again
3rd phone the home button stopped working.
All phones were in top condition and never subjected to more than sitting on a desk or in a pocket (with case).
They may have a nice feel with the metal and easy break glass but the workings inside are dog poo.
I read an article where it was stated is costs apple from manufacture to sale of an iphone £113.00 . The Galaxy cost twice as much but both sell for around the same price. What does that tell you ?

Yup at one time it looked like Nokia and motorolla were the king of mobile phones. Where are they now? Android for pc, where would that leave windows? Its a tough fickle industry computing.
