lol you are a ****... The top speed a car car can ever do is at rev limit combined with gear ratio. So where ever you car revs out combined with that factor gives you your top speed. Wether it revs out due to lack of power or wind resistance or lack of fairy dust is irrelvant.
I'm not sure you've ever revved your car out in 6th gear tommy? Probably not...

post 6, read what you original wrote

cant say I have ever revved it out no, not sure what that has to do with your retarded statement in post 6 though

JVGlanza has a point. You could have 1000bhp in a Fiat Panda. Whilst that may see you doing 200 mph in a suitably geared car in the panda you'll only ever reach the rev limiter in top gear - say 105 mph.
Paulo P and tubby tommy also have a point, you'll only reach top speed if you have the power to do so.
You're both right depending on which way you look at it. A opinion does not make you retarded lol in fact having an opinion would suggest that you're not!

totally incorrect.
it says "Power has no bearing on the top speed, just gear ratios the only thing that the power will do is increase the speed that you get there"
so if you had a 20bhp mini that was geered to 200 mph it would get there then??
I responded to post 6 nothing more

And exactly donnie, no one is wrong. Or "retarded" and there Is no need for the name calling. And I will apologise for rising to the bait and doing the same, no need for it at all.
Different points of view and both are right.
Although tommy you are still slow

according to your post no.6,power has no bearing on top speed so we all are as fast as each other given we all have the same gearing
![Thumb](images/smilies/thumb.gif)
so we are all slow, but one of us is retarded and slow
the difference in this argument is you cant prove im slow, but I can prove you are retarded as its there for all to see in post 6.

What I can say is that my 265 Bhp WRX PPP is slower over a ton than my 540i was. The 540 was like a steam train, relentless. I would think that my WRX would need another 50 Bhp or so to pull like the 540i did at those speeds.

Yeah I still miss that car, one that I wish I never sold. I stuck it on the Dyno at SSR, it made 305 Bhp and 330 ft lbs, stock. And all that was only going to one pair of wheels vs 4.

The Hawkeye bonnet has better air flow over the bonnet into the scoop at high speed which is why it gets away with a lower scoop than the blob.
To answer the op question. Standard Rb320 @316 bhp has a top speed of 158 mph according to the stats from prodrive. Im not sure if that was limited with the ppp map or not. The gearing would at 7000 rpm in 6th gear be 183.4 mph. My power should be around 370-380 bhp and i have seen 155 mph on the speedo. It was still climbing and i had plenty of revs left. I actually lost my bottle when i saw the ally bonnet moving around in the wind lol

So if the tmic and scoop were eliminated, and fmic and reverse scoop fitted, the potential engine damaging issues would be removed and the geared top speed could be acheived? With the speed limiter removed?

Would be a step closer though?
Get rid of the ironing board, a bit more aerodynamic?
No need to worry about charge temps due to fmic, and a decently built block to handle the power and revs required could sure help use that extra bit of gearing thats left.
I could, of course, be talking shoite here

There is a certain white sierra sapphire cosworth knocking about that is owned by an oap...
That thing has the power and the gearing to hit 206mph over a mile at bruntingthorpe, now i cant remember the exact drag coefficient but it isnt great. Its got 800bhp and a good shot of nos to get it there too.
So basically, you need power, and gearing, and big ***** to go FAST....
Me, i hit an indicated 135 in mine a while, no idea on the revs but let off as the bonnet looked it was about to exit stage right....
Not tried to top it out, maybe ratchet strap the bonnet down and have a go lol.
Ps does the bug uk300 come with an alloy bonnet as std? Mine has one.

Rod from Passionford would love this thread. If you was to use his saph cossie as an example. A standard saph cossie with 204 bhp when new would do roughly 144 mph. Rods now has 800+bhp and does either 206 or 213 mph. Not sure what he's done to his ratios in his box. So bhp does increase top speeds

I think rod is on a tko box, and 19 inch rear wheels for the 206.
When the car is back on the road it should be near 1000hp before nos and capable of 216 i think is the plan
Martin hadlamd done 204 mph is an escort cosworth with near 800bhp. Must have a better drag coefficient than the saph.
And i think any gallagher managed 202 in his focus cosworth.
Anyway, ill stop banging on about shonky fords that have done the double ton lol
