Yeah I have seen those STi sport bumpers. But if im honest they look hard to get.
The way I see it, if you cant afford the real thing dont bother. So I wouldnt buy the likes of a fibreglass copy of the STi sport bumper.

Im just going to go facelift with V6 lip.

Well got the gearbox out yesterday morning with the help of a friend (marksym89).
He came down in his newly purchased Terzo - looking pretty clean may I add!
Didn't actually take too long, was pretty easy actually and not one bolt snapped or gave us any trouble!
I have not yet stripped the box, but just by trying to move the selector rod at the end of the box there seems to be a lot of resistance (in fact not much movement at all), we noted metal filings in the gearbox oil once drained also.
New gearbox time!
Photos of yesterdays antics.

Will get the rear crank seal replaced and spigot bearing too while the box is out.
Also might be a little easier to replace my Uppipe to Turbo gasket whilst im there too.

Default * Update *

So it's been a while since I've updated this after having some ups and downs!
Where we left off was when I took out the gearbox due to being stuck in 3rd gear. I took it to bits and found a broken selector shaft, so set about rebuilding the gearbox.

So as I was building it up and it wasnt mobile I threw on new up-pipe and downpipe gaskets for piece of mind as I hear these are common to start blowing at some point. Replaced the rear crank seal whilst I was there too. And all new genuine gaskets and sealer for the gearbox rebuild.

Refitted gearbox and fired her up and the revs shot right up to 3000 rpm ! Had a look around, cleaned up the IACV which never made any odds, continued to have a look around and found a split intake hose at the turbo (again something common to happen I hear).

Jumped straight on the net and grabbed a bargain from SWRD (Scoobyworx) and snatched up one of their silicone intake hoses made by Viper Performance. Nice hose and what a size compared to original but the fitting was a night mare!!!
According to SWRD its down to it being the old design hence the cheap price.

Off came the inlet, had to modify some fuel pipes, reroute the wiring that runs under the inlet manifold for the crank, oil pressure and coolant temp sensors although I suppose it looks neater now with proper loom tape and not that horrible looking sparky tape. After much wrestling it was on, honestly was about to burn the car at one point lol.

Then after that came the next hurdle! The MAF pipe was too long now and thus was causing the RCM filter to not fit. There was no way I was cutting down my new shiny pipe so I've had to chop down the MAF pipe for the time being so that it all fits. I will be looking to source a HKS or Zerosports hard pipe that can slide into my intake pipe.

Drama over and now time to drive the car !
Car drove great, then after about a week the car started grinding in every gear on the way home! Obviously a bearing or something has gone in the box or something I've missed on the rebuild will split it again at some point and figure out what's went wrong.

Thankfully. Dannyeg on here had a replacement box for sale at the time which I purchased. Very helpful chap and we got the box up here in good time.

Sure I've aleady been here before ?

Whilst I was there I fitted this Hayward and Scott decat as will provide better gains come remap time over the sports cat I had fitted previously.

Which brings us to now pretty much. Gearbox has been going great. No crunches or dodgy noises. Just gotta keep this one intact now haha.

Last weekend I picked up some new boots for the R.

17" OZ Prodrive P1's wrapped in Toyo R888 - they dont half grip

And here's a few other pics from over this weekend - nice and clean!

So thats where I'm at just now. The R is booked in for a remap with Andy Forrest on April 25th. Looking to get hold of an Adjustable FPR before then and the front splitter fitted soon!

Would like to say thanks to a few peeps for the help and advise over this annoying period - Aberdeenscoobie boys (Duncan, Lewis, Russel) John (BRD) and Dannyeg.
