You want to get yourself something like a Mazda bongo with a flip top bed and a cheap ebay awning for cooking and the dog to sleep in, the back seats turn into a big double bed and there's the roof that tilts up and has another double bed up there which the kids will love.

I had one a few years ago paid £3k for it, tidied it up a bit, which consisted of a good clean and a couple of small issues, sold it on after 3 seasons for £4k.

Not fast and you need to make sure you keep an eye on the water temp so as not to cook the engine and do the head gasket, which is mostly down to the cooling system needing a good flush and bleeding properly or a new rad, once you've done that properly and fitted a digital temp gauge, as the OEM one is like the subaru oil light and known as the engine fcuked light, they are fine, buy right and you can make a few quid like I did.

Been there, done that. Much prefer exploring the UK and Europe in our camper. Yes it was "crazy" money to buy but 100% worth it and the depreciation is nearly negligible.

Well it sounds pretty poky and I imagine you find it pleasant and easy to drive.

Most of the ones I see around this area, and there are a lot of them, are pretty badly driven as though the drivers are not very competent. Maybe they are hired ones and the drivers are not used to anything bigger than a family car.

Big motorhomescare are a pain to drive; wide, slow, poor handling. Ours is weighty but 180bhp/295lbs-ft so goes okay. Sounds horrible though!

Both; there's a bed "floor" (the roof of the van) on hydraulic struts; leave it down and you have a decent sized double bed upstairs, raise it for standing room to cook, etc. That may not make sense...!

Basically it sleeps two up top, two down below but with some cunning German ingenuity, downstairs can also be an eating area (front seats swivel, a table slides out). They also fit two decent outdoor chairs in a slot in the tailgate and a table in a recess in the sliding door.

I'm after one of these too.

What are the seats like in the back? Is there room for a child seat?

It's strictly two seats only due to the width but they are proper seats with ISOFIX fittings. We have a two and a four year old and its been fine with both their seats. We stash the seats in the little pop up tent in the pic when we arrive.

10.5k isn't bad, but it's a big risk if I buy a lemon ..
