Impossible to say. I know of some that shat themselves at standard power but also others still running well above 350.
The main thing to think about is general condition of the car. If its high mileage with poor service record then upping the power is not wise. However if you find a nice low mile well cared for car then generally you'll be ok at 350 bhp.

For me, personally, I'd take a standard motor to somewhere around 330.
If you want to push things towards their limits then make sure you've got the cash available when/if things go bad.

Thanks, keep seeing a few blob wrx's in white pop up, quite tempted by one just wondering if I could live with around 330ish bhp that all.

Noticed one on ebay that had a respray, with blue wheels, its a Cat D which seller hasn't mentioned, and seen another which is almost an STi rep which doesn't look too bad, second one has been owned by a member on here briefly I think, but never wrote much about it

my blob wrx is over 100k and running 330bhp fine

the newage engine can run 400bhp proven, it's the clutch/gearbox that the problems start at about 340-350bhp, you need mechanical sympathy

i think jura is running 420+ bhp on std gearbox

The newage STI engine can run 400bhp happily, pushing a wrx motor to that is asking for trouble.

Regards to gearbox, ran mine at circa 420 with no probs. The early 752 box didn't last long but the later 754 one was fine.

I wouldn't advise running more than 350bhp, just stating the wrx engine is capable of

That was my thinking too, I'm happy with my 330bhp wrx.
