I have to say that I am at a loss when it comes to trying to understand what you actually mean by your post.

You have either not read my post carefully or you are unable to understand plain English.

I have not advocated any changes in the rules attached to marriage itself. Those are well tried over so many years and seem to have stood the test of time quite successfully.

Did you not understand that I was referring to the priestly requirements of the Catholic Church and suggesting an understandable reason for priests falling into temptation because of the restrictions placed upon them? Try reading my post again,perhap's a little more slowly this time so that you can elicit the full meaning of what I said. Celibacy could be a very difficult way of life for most people. People become priests because they feel that they have a vocation to do so. Life is full of temptation of course and it is down to us all to try to resist them. That is fully understood by the Catholic Church of course. The Church says that a priest has to devote his entire life to serving God and therefore marriage is not permitted. Just in case you are confused, let me point out that the rules attached to marriage as far as English law is concerned are not dependent on religious requirements of the Catholic Church or any other for that matter. I was certainly not advocating that having become a priest that person should go against the Church's rules for his own convenience.

If you meant something different in your rather accusatory post, perhap's you might explain it all.

I really can't see why you ask that question. The severity of a punshment is usually in the eye of the beholder of course. Most of course would understand the unpleasantness of a particularly nasty sentence.

Let me ask you how you consider just how bad it is to deliberately groom and take advantage of young people who don't understand much about life at their age and then to have illegal sexual relations with them, maybe even making frightening threats to force them to submit?

What sort of a punishment would you personally award to them not only to let them know the severity of the shameful behaviour they were guilty of, but also to attempt to dissuade them and others in the future of ever doing that again.

The punishment would of course have to be within the constraints of legal requirements. Kindly let us know your solution for interest's sake.

Unfortunately my punishment is not "within the constraints of legal requirements". Law, can of course be changed, and if it was, I'd opt for their dangly bits to be removed with a baseball bat...
