well I slightly disagree, I always check the feedback when I buy something, granted its no guarantee but it does give some indication of the seller.

if we all use it correctly it can help if only a small bit, id think twice if I spotted negative feedback.

well that's what the feedback system is designed for, personally I could knowingly rip someone off but unfortunately others will.

but I have only ever had positive experiences buying and selling things on here but If the items are worth a bit of money I usually travel and collect as you really do need your head testing to paypal a stranger a large sum of money without seeing any goods.

Tested ??? why would that be , this is supposed to be an honest site where people can buy from honest good hard working types .....im sure i am not the first one to have bought a gearbox or engine etc without seeing it , hence why paypal was used. I took his word and foolishly paid the price for it ....i wasnt about to travel from scotland to plymouth ...i trusted the system and it failed

And to add he didnt KNOWINGLY rip me off he just lacked the information to sell it , wasnt until after i had pointed out the diff didnt match up to his priginal description he told me he was breaking for someone else , he then said thats what he was told by the gearbox bilder , then refused to go back to them with the information i had given him all backed up by BRD and a report from Steve whitson ..... ......all in all a pure ****e experience

Iv made a few big purchases off here, one was a 6 speed & one was an MD321T. Both were large sums of money & I had no problems. The MD was paid by bank transfer, but I usually search user names & try to buy from names I recognise on the forum. The one time I got screwed it was by M4RKG over about 50 quid for a pair of headlamps & I bought them in a hurry & forgot to check out his shoddy rep.

Exactly some CAN be trusted no matter the cost and some can't

I wouldn't argue with the logic in that either

Exactly.

But it's only as good and useful as it is if utilised properly and fully.

The last few of this type of thread seem to have drawn out that the op (obviously) has had a problem, and a few others say they have had a few gripes with the seller, then others say they haven't had any problems at all.

If EVERYONE who bought left feedback others would be able to see whether the seller was a serial late deliverer, awkward to get hold of etc. or if there were isolated incidences, and then decide on the balance of probability whether to buy.

Perhaps we as a commuunity don't help to maximise the help available.

I subscribe to a massive site that is feedback dependent (Tripadvisor) and I ALWAYS leave feedback for every location - hotel, restaurant, attraction etc.
There's usually one or two bad reviews for some of the places we eventually select but, as above, we decide on the balance - and we've never been let down by the total feedback.

perhaps in some cases, but not this one, check the tracking yourself, the goods were posted before the thread was created

I don't want to put words in Einstein's mouth but presumably that's why he posted "in some cases".

It's definitely why I agreed with him.

It would have been totally different if he'd have said "this case".

The ironic thing is that starting these sort of threads almost always ends up with far less confusion. That's some sort of consolation I suppose.

Answered accurately and succinctly. That was exactly what I meant. Far too many times it takes a thread akin to this one for there to be some sort of resolution. It shouldn't require a Kangaroo court for people to get their goods/money.

I trader feedback is a great idea but I think both parties should get nagged to death about leaving feedback. I've traded probably twice what my feedback states, and always leave it for the other party.

QED.

2 members have supported keljon since the thread started.

Keljon's only problem seems to be lack of communication with some customers.

Lesson learned?
