Yes, the MAP sensor detects the manifold pressure and feeds the info back to the ECU which will switch off the fuel to stop overboosting. Doesn't matter what pump you have fitted.

The ECU will only make minor timing changes to try to prevent knock/detonation but won't change the air/fuel mixture. That is only achievable through careful remapping.

Ok that's great lads so for a min just leave as it is thinks best all round option is a ecu and a remap but still worried for min that after mods it's only been rollers and not touch in any other way surely to make sure it's safe get another roller and ask them to fine tune if that's what they do whilst I'm saving for little while is that possible or just leave as is tuner said it was fine love the site

There's no point going back to the rolling road, they can't tune anything for now. I have a few mods on my car too like Blitz Nur spec full system, decat downpipe, FMIC and so on but it looks like I have the standard ECU as well. I'm just staying off the throttle until I get a new ECU fitted.
Keep your car at standard boost levels and don't boost it when your driving until you get a new ECU!

If you've had engine mods and the ecu hasn't been tweeked to run the mods I'd be staying off boost incase you do any damage to the engine eg if you wack your boost and your air flow meter can only read a certain volume of passing air, so say you double you boost your air flow meter can only read 3quarters of the passing air so puts that amount of fuel through but then you've got say 30% extra air goin through unread by the afm and ecu, then you'd be under fueling and doing damage hope this makes sense I'm on my phone (all info is what I've read through this site)

Thanks guys again great help so don't bring on the boost at standard boost as I don't have a boost controller anyway only the tuner said its fine as it is to boost aswell for the minute as he said boost controller would be the next step with the standard ecu and a rolling rd it will be fine so I don't really understand I shouldn't get a boost controller and I can't boost it as it is with the mods I have which are fmic walbro pump cone air filter full de cat exhaust tdo5 standard turbo so do I leave it on the drive till I find a ecu. Lol

Nah, you'd 100% be better off with the ESL board. As far as I know it can do anti lag and launch control.

all comes down to how much you wana spend on a ecu setup spend alot youll have all the goodies , ive read that the lacunch controll is pretty useless (unless building a drag/sprint car)your best bet is to ring a specialist subaru man with a good rep on here and disscuss your options (jolly green monster, bob rawl ,slowboy racing to name a few)im not saying any of the info me and pie have said is wrong theyl be able to say what is the best setup for you

yea you know to much stress on the gbox and clutch,if i do a hard launch il have it in 1st biting revving up holding it on the handbrake ,then bang off you go lol , not the best method but puts less stress on it as it already loaded other than a quick snap of power shock all at once, takes a few goes but when you hit it wright you fly off the line

I honestly don't think there is a quick fix, if there was, I'd have it too! Just keep the boost at normal levels I guess. I've given mine a few short blasts here and there at full throttle an it's been fine but I wouldn't do it for more than 20 seconds really. Even that is probably pushing my luck! I've emailed ESL for some info and hope to have my board at the end of the month. Also need to get EGT and AFR gauges to set everything up.
