Thoughts on WR1

thanks guys.
Just been speaking to the guy who owns this, nice low miles and looks like it could be a good base.
bugeye-wrx-sti-type-uk-prodrive-style-2002
Having spoken to him there are a couple of paint nicks, and a new stereo need (no problem). FSH all else looks good, and on the phone he will take 7k. going to see it Wednesday.
this gives me some spare cash to get things done....

even with that low miles? and FSH?
cant see any out there for that mileage and condition for 5K. Do they really exist? lots of people saying they do, but not found one yet :-(
should I be so worried about mileage? (old habits die hard - lol) lots of Higher Mileage vehicles for the same price.

well maybe 5 is a bit cheeky but its worth 6k max id say, obviously depending on condition.
granted its a low mile car but 7k for a standard bug sti is way overpriced.

Mileage shouldn't be your main concern. Condition and service record are whats important.
A 30K car with average service history would be a worse bet than a 60K car thats been owned by an enthusiast and serviced at rcm all its life for instance.

ok, thanks chaps.
Sorry, about coming across so 'dumb' - with so many variants I am struggling to see a common price point - they are all over the place. Interesting that everyone on here says one number, yet the market reflects another. I trust the forum (thats why I joined and asked the questions).
OK good to know. WIll keep going. expect more dumb links from me :-)

just because they are up for sale at a certain price doesn't mean they are selling for that.
decide what model you want and go from there.

Here's another thread you need to look at before you go to see that Bug (I'm with Tommy on the price, too):
https://www.scoobynet.com/general-te...ame-query.html
"Just been undersealed". Why's that then, Ted?

OK, I have sat down over the weekend, trawled the net, read lots of reviews, spoke to Bob Rawle amongst others and have come up with my wish list:
- 2005
- WRX STI Type UK
- Prodrive PPP,
- Widetrack
- FSH
- preferably with less than 70K miles
- preferably standard (no or minimal mods)
- any colour
£9k in my pocket for the right car.
so all I need to do now is wait and trawl the net....and keep saving my hard earned cash :-)
thanks for all your help folks, much appreciated. I will still hang around, learn the lingo, and start to be part of the family.
BTW: anyone with the above spec ping me - i have cash! LOL.

Someone on here that goes by the name of Picklemaroo got a very nice Blob with c.55k on the clock for somewhere around the high 8's recently. The car was loaded with Prodrive goodies and sympathetic small mods. It had most of its service history with RCM.
I guess if you scour the market you can always find a car for a couple of hundred more or less but realistically those widetrack Blobs are becoming more and more desirable and you can't go wrong with one if you buy one with your thinking cap on.
Incidentally I sold my Blob PPP in November last year with 48k on the clock for more than I paid for it, closer to £10k

A sound list. My only comment would be not to dismiss the possibility of a JDM car. You'll get all you want from one of those from a few months before 2005 too, and the most desirable feature of any on offer on an Impreza...
... a rear windscreen wiper!

ok, even more thinking over the last few days, and more speaking to Bob Rawle and others.
This was my list:
- 2005
- WRX STI Type UK
- Prodrive PPP,
- Widetrack
- FSH
- preferably with less than 70K miles
- preferably standard (no or minimal mods)
- any colour
My journey started with a WR1 - this was the car that made we want to get a Subaru. So, it looks my journey in the scooby world will be with a WR1.
Now, I know from the comments in this thread, that some of you dont like the WR1, so I hope you will accept me and my WR1.
Today I picked up, and drove the 3hour drive home in my new WR1. Less miles than I stated above, and less money - which is always nice. FSSH (loads of stamps), PPP certificate etc etc. immaculate inside.
I am very OCD with the car being right, so will start a thread with some of the things that I want to do.
very glad to be part of the family (if you can forgive the WR1)...

Congratulations on your purchase.
As well as your membership of this Forum, I'd suggest you'll also want to join this one if you haven't already:
