How can Atheism not be a belief? On the basis their is no definitive proof for or against the existance of a god/gods, then Atheists rely on the belief that they don't exist. So yes I would have said that Atheism is indeed a belief system (how ever I agree that it isn't a faith).

Difficult topic .. not believing in something in my mind isn't a belief, but I guess by definition it is, as you believe it isn't.

Well, without trying and making absurd assumption you are the one showing your lack if intelligence. I think most atheists are only big boys in their own comfort zones.

Come on then join the forum. They are all friendly over there. Don't be pathetic all your life . I appreciate you haven't had a correct upbringing but hey, that's not your fault. Come along and debate with people who take you seriously, surely it's better than trying to debate with a troll like me who has already .... Sigh... never mind.

Not this bollocks again. Atheism is a belief in the same way that abstinence is a sexual position. I don't proselytise for atheism - the notion of god has no place in my life as an explanation, a motivation or a subject for contemplation. It's not a belief.

You might want to go and read about Atheism a bit. Just because you don't believe in a god doesn't instantly make you an Atheist.

Before any meaningful discussion about God can take place one ought to define God.

Not believing in unicorns doesn't make me aunicornist. Why are you trying to define and categorise me?

From Wikipedia:

Most inclusively, atheism is simply the absence of belief that any deities exist.

Even if god does exist, he's a right tosser. So why do people worship him because he tells them to?

Well, I’ve just had 2 minutes to kill, so popped over to that friendly site you recommended for us thicko’s that don’t get religion. The very first discussion I stumbled across was about how your great leader Mohammed getting engaged to a girl of 6, and eventually consummating the marriage at the grand old age of 9. I then scroll down to see brainwashed loon’s actually defending it, turning a blind eye or making excuses (like all religions do when the **** hits the fan) about how its being interpreted etc… like I said before, your brainwashed with utter cr@p like this from the minute your born, and your telling me I’m the one who needs to be educated?

Oh here comes Mr I'm Original Athiest non regurgitating bull man.

You really going to argue about a man that lived 1400 years ago when you have no idea of the society back then nor even the meaning of marriage back then, seriously who needs educating again?

As I said, join the forum and debate. If you got half a ******** do it. Don't just make sarky remarks whilst in your own comfort zone. That just makes you another weak willed athiest hoping on his peers to dig him out of his hole. You obviously want to pick a bone with religion but in reality you don't even know what you are talking about hence why you need to educate yourself.

Now come along and be a man. At least give yourself enough self respect to do so. Do you always want to remain the observing loser who never engaged? Yet you seem fit to judge that because person x believes in god they are brainwashed from birth. How can one make such a statement when they refuse to educate themselves.

Now log on and debate rather than sitting here and trolling (insecure coward style)

the thing I don't get about religion is why some religions feel the need to force it onto people.

if you believe in a god that's fine nothing wrong with it the same as if you don't.

God created everything, even tossers. There is a reason for everything he does, even though we don't quite fully understand why.

You've got to admit now even though I'm a god believer I do sometimes feel 'come on God, stop taking the **** now! Okay I get the message'

Nothing at all, but if one says "I believe in God" and someone else claims not to, surely a definition of said God needs to exist for the dialogue to have meaning.

Exactly: it's the way I look at any belief system; it's like having a *****

Great to have it, fine to be proud of it, but please don't shove it down my throat!

FWIW it's a totally illogical thread: If religious folks really are less intelligent, then they're hardly going to comprehend the sophisticated anti-theist arguments being made and if the atheists dumb it down to a level where they're basically just insulting people, then they're doing the very thing that they criticise religious folks for!

The fact is that no one religious is ever going to read a thread like this and think: "Crap, I've been a fool all along"

Similarly, no atheist is ever going to read anything on here and think "My life is empty without a god"

Save your breath and your time!

Thankfully education not religion as taught us what is right and wrong.

Advances in medicine save more lives than a healing hand. Forced marriage, chopping off your foreskin, female genital mutilation or denying females equal rights are still normal practice for many religions.

Is that normal?

I have no interest in doing that, I don't really care what they believe, I just wish they would leave the rest of us alone to believe in what we wish.

I've always found that real men spend their time arguing on the internet with those that condone paedaphilia and threaten from behind a keyboard.
