Mrs Leslie used to be a professional wild life artist and she was very good too.

I prefer to see her work in frames though.

As the saying goes Pete.

The only difference between tattooed people and non tattooed people is--tattooed people don't care if you're not tattooed...

I wanted a tattoo for quite some time, but didn't want any tattoo just for the sake of having one..
Well I got mine two weeks ago I forgot too post pics on my thread but hey ho.may even get another on my arm,but with me it has to have some value or meaning too it..

There is another difference, of course, that is the life chances lost by those sporting tats.

Where I work there is a cleaner with facial tatoo's ....... now, is he a cleaner because he has tatoo's or has he tatoo's because he's cleaner?

One thing is for sure - with the tatoo'd face he will never rise above emptying bins .... and that is such a shame.

My tattoos have never held me back in my profession - but I'm blue collar over white collar and get my hands dirty for a living.

Certainly didn't hold me back getting my trade, but then I know what Pete's threads are normally about

To be quite honest pete i agree to a certain point.i have had certain jobs in the past where tatts aren't allowed, or only on certain places on the body would be accepted. Then i was younger and eager so went along with it.Now i'm older and have expericened life more i just think to hell with it..If any company refused me a job now because of a tatt, then they are not worth my time or graft...
Had enough with small mindednes and petty bitchin..

Personally I don't like them, especially on women, and especially women with 'tramp stamps'
Anyone that get them on their face/neck needs looking at IMO.

MrsD has a couple of tattoos, it hasn't stopped her earning considerably more than an ink free me

She's a bean counter by the way, aka scourge of the earth

Surely one must get fed up with a tattoo when you have been looking at it for a few years.

Les, being tattooed is a bit like life; you have to accept the decisions you have made be they good or bad so you just get used to it. perhaps the bad decisions are just a little more obvious though

At the risk of stoking further controversy on the subject, if it's true that tattoos originated mostly in cultures where it's the norm to wear relatively little clothing (because of the climate - Tahiti being the obvious example), does that mean people with a lot of tattoos in places where it's far colder are consciously or unconsciously advertising their keenness to disrobe?

I love how the original poster assumed that they were lowlife folk that either had no job or a minimum wage, when your paying £70 per hour for quality work maybe your not such low life. Each to their own i say

That's the sticking point, the undesirables, the people not wanting to work, or claiming benefits because they can do pay crazy amounts for things that fall outside necessity.

Paying taxes to have little Billy and Sally-Ann do this to themselves, further reducing their chances of work, just doesn't feel right .. and regardless of your thoughts around body art, 90% of the tattoos the unemployed get aren't going to impress someone in an interview, rightly or wrongly.

Personally if someone wants to get a tattoo, go for it, it's your body, but my suggestion would be to get it somewhere you can hide, because as much as it goes against my personal beliefs, I'm not going to hire someone with face, neck or hand markings, I can't send someone like that out to a vendor or potential customer.

Thats without a doubt regarding where they are, personally if i wear a shirt you would never know. Tattoos on the neck, hands are not going to help with your work chances.

Lot's of companies require them to be hidden whilst at work, a lot of people regard them as unprofessional or "chav" (as the OP does) and the risk to business isn't worth it.

I've seen a few tattoo's with the word "LOVE" or another 4 letter word on their knuckles. 1 letter on each knuckle/finger.

How much better is it if such a decision is easily reversible though?
