New cars, as in cars made today. Do you like them?

Modern run-of-the-mill cars are sanitised and boring compared to the older cars.
I had my first drive of a 2 year old Focus the other week, safe as houses, good handling, fair performance but utterly insulated and boring.
I was glad to get back into my 14 year old Aerodeck with its B16 engine and torque steer, a challenging and fun sleeper of a car.

Mmm, where do I start??????????
OK, fortune smiles on me, and I get the wife a Corsa 1.3 CDTi, after her (our) Mazda 323F.
A 1.3 DIESEL ???????????? OH MY GOD !!!!
Best value car we've ever had imo.
Nippy little bu&&er when it has to be and returns 60+ to the gallon.
That same fortune got me the T20 Hawk.
**** the mileage, performance is all
Each to their own

I loved my old Opel Mantas and although I sold my last one back in April this year, they still have a place in my heart.
The old 2.0 CIH engine was stupidly heavy, but surprisingly nippy in its day, and they looked brilliant too.
As Shrek says, Vauxhall interchangability is great, so my last one had a tuned 2.0 SRi Cav engine on bike carbs and made around 150bhp at the rear wheels. It went like the clappers. Boy did it feel crude though, but what good fun.
Nowadays we have a 2010 Fiesta 1.6 petrol ('Ti-VCT'). It goes quite well when you rev it, the handling's brilliant and it always gives us at least 37+ mpg. It's beautifully made, feels really solid and has loads of gadgets. But does it do anything for me? I'm afraid not.

Ha, I've had loads of Manta's, starting around 1991 up until 2008 when my last one was stolen. Hatch backs, coupes, 1.8's, 2.0's, GTJ's, GTE's, Exclusive's and a very special 330BHP 4x4 Cosworth powered one. Great cars.
