Cat C write off advice?

£700?! Lol, it isn't a Saxo vtr you know
£2k is the going rate for 60-90k mile UK Turbo 2000's, price going up to £3.5k depending on mods, engine rebuild, etc. Asking price anyway.
Anything less than £2k is your usual 130k mile knackers with orange wheels and lexus rear lights.
I'm not bothered that it IS a Cat C write off, it's the fact that it was written off 2 months after it was brand new. Thus the damage was valued at more than what the car was brand new, or there abouts. Which,is a LOT of damage.
I mean I like the look of the car, it has good mileage, all past MOT's, etc. It's just this Cat C thing that doesn't add up.

So the owner is a dealer but "didn't know" it was a write-off? He's either a liar or a **** dealer. My money would be on him lying.
I know what it's like when you've seen one you want and imagine yourself driving it. I had the same, I was torn between 2 typeR's but waited. One eventually was sold as "engine knocking" by the same dealer. The other is outside my house.

I might haha
But in all seriousnous, I might look at it and if it's in good condition and the MOT's and everything looks good offer him £1200. I want the car to last a good year or two but I'll still have problems selling it as it is a Cat C car, no matter how straight it is. That needs to be reflected in the price I pay for it.
If he won't take it then I'll walk away. Although if he does take it then I'll be curious at to why he had it at £2k if he was happy with £1200
