Better chance than paying 500 quid for a test drive and wasting people's time

So you've never test driven a car and then not bought it?

he wasted the dealers time by putting a deposit on a car and pulling out because he made a hasty decision.
tough luck, he should have gone away and thought about it before committing.

You'll lose more than £500 buying a car from a retailer & then trying to sell it on.

Okay, thanks for the help guys.
The car is now sold. The best they can do is retain the deposit against another car in the future.
Refund, no chance.
Lesson learn't.

TBF, I'd have tried to get the money back too.
Car dealers come into that category of people I don't feel overly honour bound to.
