I used to own this one - no idea where it is now, but clearly still alive.

When I had it, the exhaust was a bit bigger than that, it had no centre box on it - used to sound devine and was fond of spitting fire out on the overrun
It was, by far, one of the best cars I ever owned, only beaten in to 2nd place by the RS4.

I have to go on one of these! 68 in a 60.. It was on the A303, where it goes 60/70/60/50/40/70/60/etc.. The irony is I was just coming back from Thruxton in a Litchfield Type 25, where I'd just been pulling 150 plus down the back straight in an Audi R8..
Hardly ragging it was I!

Let me get this right.
You pay the same amount of money.
Instead of the money going to the Government, it goes to Safety partnerships who use the money for more cameras.
You have to declare to your insurance company anyway.
You have to sit and listen to a load of (PC) drivel for a couple of hours in your own time.
Unless I had at least 6 points on my licence, I'd just pay the fine and take the points (or get the Missus to ).

I know a person who bombed past a speed camera van doing 50 @ 30 to his destination, and on the way back again merely after two hours. Twice to n' fro on the same stretch of road may look duffer-ish as it looks, but **** happens.

Someone I know went on one.
I had him primed to ask why, if the cameras WERE for safety, they were preferred to take photos of the FRONT of vehicles, and cannot, therefore, catch motorbikes speeding?
Yet motorbikes make up nearly 40% of serious and fatal accidents, out of only 4% of road users.
You'd think they would target bikes?
The police sergeant running the course first questioned his figures, then stated that the camera VANS can take photos in both directions.
On being questioned about THAT, he first tried to say there are two people in each van.
Loudly shouted down for that lie, he threatened to eject anyone who continued the argument from the course, promising they would NOT be refunded the course money, but would then get the £60 fine and three points as WELL.
Who says it's not about revenue?

I think the real question here is why don't the police or whatever use rear facing cameras?
Here in Essex, average speed cameras are all forward facing and do not pick up motor cycles. Mobile cameras are generally forward facing and fixed cameras here are rear facing.
I can think of no reason why the average speed cameras should be forward facing - there must be a reason, does anyone here know why?

Correct, or so we were told on the course. Mine was £92 and no points. What pi55es me off is that I've done over 150,000 miles in high performance impreza's but have only been done for speeding in a 1.5 litre Nissan qashqai diesel Andy

Failing to look properly was the most frequent cause of crashes for all vehicles except motorcycles. Motorcyclists were most likely to crash through ‘loss of control’ and also most likely to be the victim of someone else failing to look."

As for why they have forward rather than rear facing camera's, I have no idea but it wouldn't be done specifically NOT to get bikers.

I'm guessing I will get the speed awareness course option.

DfT figures.
And NONE of that negates the FACT that at speed the motorcyclist is more likely to be injured in any collision than the car driver, and that motorcyclists DO speed, yet aren't targeted.

I like good cars, but I'm not into all that rally, engine code, Phase 1 and stuff milarky. I leave this hobby for others to get on with. If I did everything, what would they do, hm?

Depends.
There are women who are very much into all that. I'm not. I have better things to do. Like just driving those good cars, and driving others mad.
Subaru was just mine, so were a few other good ones- that's over a good few years. I let my loved ones drive them.

I did however have three pretty close shaves and in each case, it was indeed a case of the driver not seeing me.
In the context of this thread, speed was not a factor in any of them.
