Veils in public

When i was a kid at schoool, quite a long time ago now, there were white kids, asian kids( mainly from pakistani and indian descent). everyone wore a school uniform, no one wore veils, etc, everyone was treated the same.
we were taught that we were all british, that no mater what the colour or 'ethnic' background, we were all the same. And we genuinely all got along fine.
what the **** went wrong??
am i the only one who feels that there is big trouble coming in this country? It seems british born muslims have little patriotism for this country, and the white majority feel that muslims get all the special treatment.
personally, i blame all the left wing hand wringing do gooders who have destroyed this country. our forefathers would turn in their grave at this mess. i personally feel we need a stronger government to crack down on all the nonsense from all sides, and make everyone quit all this sht and get along a bit better, or start banging peoples heads together. oh and tell the eu to **** off so they cant interfere.
just my two pence worth

They can, if they like to. I've seen ladies driving in full burka with veil. Their hands are free, so are the legs. Veil does allow eyes to be able to see the road and other road users, so they should be alright. Veil could be a hurdle if they were speeding or driving without licence/insurance etc., and need to be identified.
I've never seen any Muslim lady (young or old) in burka riding a bike in any country where helmet is compulsory. I've seen adolescent females in full burka without veils back in India, absolutely thrapping their pushbikes in full speed in circles! Great dough-nutting, fair play. You don't lawfully have to wear a helmet for cycling in India. I just think if they didn't have controls on them, some of them could have been world class female Mo Farah.

I think in the case of the OP, it's not unreasonable to ask for a full veil to be removed. In certain circumstances it is the ideal to be able to see a person's face. In part to confirm the person is who they are supposed to be (although that could be confirmed elsewhere, unless the person was a defendant, in which case it would be necessary for them to be identifiable in court as they may need to be specifically pointed out by a witness) but also, it is generally easier to get an idea of somebody's honesty when looking them properly in the face. Facial expressions can reveal a lot at times.
As for day to day life, I'm not all that bothered in the grand scheme of things. However, there has to be a common 'rule' that applies to all. A full veil can't be allowed in public, if at the same time others would be told they couldn't wear bike helmets/balaclavas/hoodies etc. if we are to be a fair society. To wear a full veil is a CHOICE, not a requirement and as such, should not be given special treatment if places have a policy regarding head/face wear, law or not.
I'm not actually going to spout the whole 'when in Rome....' line, only because that is not what is being asked. If I went to certain countries, I would be expected to cover up appropriately according to the customs/rules of that country, here our 'ways' are a lot more relaxed, some would even say too much more, but nobody is then forcing any Muslim woman to take off all of her traditional clothing and bare all to the world to follow the 'customs' of many British females, just to show their faces in certain situations. I'm sorry but I don't see that as being against human rights. Forcing someone to parade around scantily clad would be.

Isn't it ironic that yesterday you were denying Democracy and today you are trying to force it on people. Seriously, i do pity your type sometimes. If you would just learn a bit about your history then it may do your brain some wonders. I'm glad the English left exist. Without them most of Britain would turn into bigoted retards.

I'm sure you did. Everthing was really hunky dory back then.

No, there's a whole army full of drunken bald blokes defending the country in randomn town centres by gathering in groups and telling all the pakis to **** off. They think the same too.
That's because vaginas with your mindset have pretty much beaten it out of us. As for the white majority feeling we get special treatment. Well, we can't be blamed for the majorities stupidity can we.
Here's some more. My forefathers also fought for this country in ww2. In fact nearly 2.5 million soldiers from the Indian subcontinent (a third who were Muslim) fought for your right to democracy which takes the **** as democracy was denied to their country by your forefathers so that your forefathers had their ability to exploit India's resources.

Strange that a lot of the people banging on about conforming to being British, don't want to think of themselves as British, they'd rather be English or Scottish or Welsh. Still if it suits the argument...
