Wrong, there are too many people out there for them to take everyone to court. It may happen but you'd be unlucky.

Personally I'd ignore them and take my chance.

Since when?

I got a privately issued ticket last Christmas and ignored it and didn't even get one letter. The company issuing it are very dodgy ex clampers so maybe they don't bother going to court but perhaps more reputable or should that be just less dodgy companies do take their chances.

As I pointed out the best place is that website I linked to as they will advise on the issuing company and the likelihood of them taking you to court. They were the ones who pointed out the company who issued my ticket were very dodgy and to point blank ignore them, absolutely do not acknowledge one letter because if you do they have you.

so are you saying you would park all day at the Fistral Beach car park - in the full knowledge, because of clear and adaquate signage, that you had entered into a contract -- i.e. there was a clear cost to you parking at the beach car park

you would simply ignore any request for payment -- would you do that if you where on holiday in Cornwall and parked there every day

I think we will find that all councils will soon realise the financial advantages of getting us for car parking.

Nope, I never said anything of he sort. I said there are too many people ignoring the letters for them all to be taken to court.

If I'd parked there innocently assuming that it was a free car park, then I'd either ignore the letters and take my chances, or contact the company and offer them the amount I should have paid. It would be unlikely that I, or anyone else, would miss good signage more than once, so the second part of your question is a poor attempt at leading me into suggesting that I'd do this in order to avoid paying a known charge. Personally I'd park further away and walk to the beach. Still, Newquay is a sh1tehole these days unfortunately IMHO.

Our local beach car park has gone from 60p minimum charge to £2. And loads more wardens. Added to that, they are now closing the public toilets in the low season but charging all year round (used to be just April until October).

Am I the only one getting sick of paying more for their f**k ups and getting far, far less?

The Council seem to forget that WE pay for them and they are there to serve US. Useless muppets.

Id quite happily park in these carparks without paying and watch them try to take me to court.

I love a good argument/fight me

Get over to PistonHeads and read the 'Speed, Plod & The Law' forum. There is plenty on there about Parking Eye.

It seems they monitor many motiring forums to identify car owners who they have tried to contact.

Those who hav ignored have ended up in court.

We got caught out by this in May of this year. It was an awful day and it was p*ssing it down with rain so the wife and I decided to go and sit and watch the surfers and we didn't see the signs because we didn't get out of the car

First we knew about it was a letter on the doormat when we arrived home and my wife paid it before I could google it and it turned out a lot of people had also been caught out and the general message was not to pay it and it's not a beach I would go back to now as a result of this.
