That's correct.

Seriously? A guy who seems unable to grasp the basic and simple fact that in depriving themselves of all the other things they could instead do with the tens or hundreds of thousands of pounds they've chosen to sink into a property to rent out (for example, buy a larger or nicer place to live in for themselves, a small business, cars, coke & women of easy virtue, you name it), a landlord is perfectly entitled to charge willing parties rent to live in that property, and has met every possible criteria of providing a useful good or service in exchange for that rent; such a person is debating on a different (and by that, I assume you're implying a higher) intellectual plane?

That's some mighty strong wacky-backy you must be smoking there, dude.

LOL, it's my fault that you're incapable of following a piece of prose where the word count per sentence is in double-digits?

Priceless

Hodgy, don't be such a patronising ar8e!

Do you think I (and others) can't understand the so called 'different intellectual plane' Tony is arguing from? Of course I can. The rastafarian I used to live next door to when I was twelve used to have the same viewpoint

It's the sort of philosophical and historical points we would argue in my 6th form debating club.

So this so called 'intellectual plane' that you and Tony are on is not beyond me, I left it behind about twenty five years ago when I had to start working for a living. It's boring, immature and frankly irrelevant.

The arguments (or trolling even) that make a direct comparison between landlords and benefit cheats, slave masters etc is more in keeping with my A level debating society. You've got to be a boring moron to be having the same discussion in your thirties and forties.

To suggest that people like me, John Banks (who has had similar arguments with TDW), Glesgakiss and many others just don't get the 'intellectual plane' TDW and you are on is just frankly hilarious and patronising.

We get it alright but we just think it's immature.

That's a bit unfair.
The guy could be an academic for all we know.

If he's an academic then he should reserve these discussions for his young students.

Are you trying to get a rise? TDW has stated many times in the past that he likes Marx's economic theories and in particular the theory of surplus value as a description of how normal working/employed people are exploited. In this thread he is talking about how a class of landlords live off the surplus generated by a tenant class. The idea is pure Marx. I think it's you who's on a different intellectual plane (or planet) from the rest of us if you are unable to work that one out.

Hold on, no it's Labour BAD, Tory's GOOD (liberals still gayers)

Well I don't expect much from a forum full of builders, plumbers, IT technicians, photo copier engineers, bmw drivers, and closet homosexuals

And I am never disappointed
I expected more from you Hodgy. Sadly, Your're increasingly coming over as a bollinger bolshevik. Tony is a Marxist troll who has well and truly suckered you.
