This thread is not much of a surprise. A standard Scoob WRX was pretty fast in its day, but that day ended over 10 years ago. Cars moved on, Subaru moved on, but not as quickly as other marques and now they have all left Subaru behind!
One of the many reasons I finally left the marque! Will always love the classics though!

Why can't we just enjoy our cars for what they give us rather than racing and comparing etc.
So a car was faster than you- who cares? Did you have fun the last time you took it out for a run? Probably....so what's the problem?
Honestly- Scoobynet is the only car forum I think I frequent anymore where people actually care about x, y or z is faster than theirs............

I got whipped by everything when I first bought my WRX PPP, that was until I learnt to utilise the long ratios. It struggled past 80 as the ratios were no good for top end but up to 70-80 a pretty lag-free WRX PPP should keep up with anything if driven very hard.

Does it honestly matter how quick or not someone else's car is? Drive it for the pleasure of owning

You'll find a WRX PPP will leave a standard STI quite badly until about 75 then the STI will claw back as it'll be utilising a strong 3rd gear. I should know I've raced plenty! It's always the same outcome... ...The TDO4 and long ratios of 1st and 2nd are too much for cars with bigger Turbos that have to change twice before 60. I was once 50 metres infront of a souped up STI when I actually heard his Turbo spool up in 3rd and I thought: "he's coming." Lucikly for me the road run out!

Threads like these used to make me laugh, now they just make me want to bang my head against the wall in frustration.
To the OP, neither mine or your Impreza is the fastest car in the world, end of.
You will always come up against cars that can 'beat' yours in a race. I have seen Youtube footage of a Bugatti Veyron being beaten by a Nissan Juke R, I wonder if the Veyron owner started up a similar thread?
Scoobynet is really becoming more and more like it's nickname Scabbynet all the time, I will be glad when most of the Impreza's in the UK have either been smashed up, scrapped or broken.
Only then will it become an enthusiast's car again, and the used values will rise back up to where they should be.

Why would Subaru make the STI which is a better car, if it was slower.
Yes I've read that the WRX gets to 60 quicker due to the gearbox!
But it's a weaker gearbox, weaker engine and doesn't handle as well!
Oh and I own a WRX PPP
Plus manufacture figures bore me and mean sod all!
I wouldn't want to try my luck against a STI in a proper race......on a track!

Leave it quite badly, I'm sorry but I can't accept that!

TBH I'm talking about real world speed, not drag strips and track days, legal speeds up to 72! A lot of people lambast the WRX for not being able to support or handle 450bhp but in the same breath these people are claiming figures of 300bhp is more than enough in real world power and that to get more you have to combat or put up with lag.
I think the whole idea of the STI PPP being more effective than the WRX PPP also backs up my claims about digging out of a hole.
Not only did my PPP leave STI's badly in it's wake, I had it Dyno'd on AET's accurate equipment and it clocked 187whp - 225bhp. When AET Ecutek'd it to 260 it was a whole different ball game, my mates 380bhp Evo 5 couldn't shake me off. I even kept up (had to back off at 40ish as I was gonna hit his boot) with an RS4 until I dropped it into 3rd and it felt like I'd hit a wall the way he pulled away.

You Sir are a purveyor of the finest bull ****.
"I was once 50 metres infront of a souped up STI when I actually heard his Turbo spool up in 3rd and I thought..."
Not only does this defy physics, but you should be on the stage as you claim to be able to know what gear a car is in from 50m in front.

Can't wait to there is only a few hundred scoobies left in the uk
Then the real enthusuists will come out again to talk
We will discover the best trailer to take them to the shows
Best heated garages
Suitable carpet for garage
Different heat for the seasons
And where we can get replacement stickers for our tyres
