AV Receivers

Do you mean features or quality components? I would often sacrifice features for pure processing and amp quality. Spec wise, they are all usually equally specd. Even when older models are in the sale I usually find that they are still on a par with new models at the price they have been brought down to match.

Some good advice here.
Go listen to several systems and choose the one that you like best.
Personally when I made the move from all-in-one kits, I ended up going to Richer sounds after advice.
They helped me work with a few receivers, I narrowed it down to Onkyo and Denon.
I liked the crispness of the Denon more and purchase a 1910 receiver.
I also didn't like the way the Onkyo unit got noticeably hot.

Have Richersounds improved their training of late? Admittedly it was 7 or 8 years ago I was serious about hifi but I found that their technical knowledge was left wanting. Several times I found them pushing their own brand over better alternatives. It was well known around my area that people would visit Sevenoaks sound and vision, leach on their knowledge and then go and get it cheaper down the road from Richersounds.
They had very good kit for bargain prices but they also had a load of rubbish. Going into their stores prepared was always the best approach.

To be fair to Richer Sounds they are what they say they are, but they are not somewhere to go for knowledgeable impartial advice.
That said if you are only buying a cheap AV receiver I doubt it makes much difference where you go!

Well I've a had geek overload today with buying the ipad air and just finishing setting up the receiver.
I can instantly tell a difference from my 4 year old receiver, a lot deeper sound.
My last receiver struggled with music I found but the new one has got it to a T
Did a few tests and my favourite test is happy feet 2 on the DTS-HD track and sounded superb for the money and with built in Bluetooth is a much needed add on.
