Show me a mobile operating system released before iOS that can operate a multitouch capacitive screen, now you'll tell me Apple didn't invent the 1's and 0's used in that code so it's bull**** to say they innovated.
Everything you do on your mobile device is influenced by Apple, it must sting, but it's true.

Do you really hate Apple that much that you'll spend this much time trying to prove they didn't do something. How you can even imagine that the iPhone didn't change the mobile marketplace is beyond me and anyone with an ounce of sense.

Now run along like a good little boy, or you'll be late for play-group.

What a bunch of wittering nancies. Why is it so difficult to have a normal adult discussion about phones on SN without it descending into girly slapping match?

You can but try. Looking at a Sony XP now as I cant really see how or why I need the additional performance of a top tier phone. Its still higher spec than my iPhone 4s which to be honest is no slouch and seems to do everything I would want, apart from the lack of premium finish which really is the iPhones strong point.

I agree with that, I do not see the point in encasing a premium quality phone in plastic covers and protectors. I kept my iPhone in a leather sleeve that protected it but meant I could appreciate the materials and design when using it.

Personally i really don't get all this incessant need to justify their choice, ios, android or windows.
It's just a phone ffs, stop getting your knickers in a twist.
Just buy what you fancy and be done with it.

I've always had I-Phones, however about a month ago, i switched to a HTC-One.
I really prefer it over the i-phones I've previously had. It's not quite as easy to navigate as apple has always been good at that sort of thing but it has loads of advantages. Music can be dragged and dropped from your PC instead of using sh*tty I-Tunes, it can be used as a memory stick (unlike I-phones). It has clever things like battery saving mode. It's generally a better thought out phone IMHO than I-Phones. Best of all, its got a built in TV remote that can be linked to my your Sky, surround sound and TV for those lazy days where even moving to get the TV remote seems like a mission.
That's my 2 pence worth anyways - hope it's useful

As above iv had iPhones since they come out and have got bored of them so I got the HTC one at thé weekend and it's a breath of fresh air, it feels so sold too being a sold billet alloy case, the black one looks the best imo. Best smart phone u can buy as voted for on the gadget show too, if you belive duff like that.
I just had a go of all the new phones and picked the HTC

I do like the HTC but I have heard worrying things about their warranty policy. People have been reporting hardwear faults where HTC only repair to a factory standard. In other words if you have scratched the screen, even though it has nothing to do with the fault you have to buy a new screen before they fix the fault.

Same thing with the ipod really, they were not even close to being the first MP3 player, but they added itunes and that was made the ipod the massive success it is today.
Many reasons make the iphone successful, but the biggest factor by far in making the iphone a success was really the ipod. It was the next logical step for a device that was already doing music, video, photo's and books to add the final component and make it a phone.
