Thanks for the info, so I'm guessing the cost would be the same wether rebuilding a broken engine or one that isn't yet showing signs of failure?

Surely its cheaper to rebuild an engine while its still healthy?

Exactly, we find that on ones that have taken the piston ring lands out, that they can score deep marks in the bore and if they won't clean up at .25 mm -10 thou or 5 thou per side rebore, then the block is scrap.

The cylinder walls " are flexible " is a polite way to put it and part of the problem is " bore flex " causing oil consumption. PLUS it makes the head gaskets creep whilst the top of the bores are flapping about [ relatively ]

THEN IT GETS EXPENSIVE.
