yes it is most modern hot hatches are faster, the wrx is overweight and has poor handling by modern terms.

But where did anyone suggest that the Porsche driver was going that quickly? He was obviously an enthusiast having a bit of fun and I thought I would follow behind. Not that hard to understand really. Oh and 'man up' and your previous post say it all really.

Essexjamie - well put, I'll bear that in mind before posting again.

Scooblet - I see what people mean now.

Xdevil666 - where was 'reckless' driving mentioned? Fair point about the mechanical failures though, but that could include doing motorway speeds, which were a lot higher than I was doing up Holme Moss.

its a reasonably quick car thats all, but it handles crap and the brakes on the wrx are a joke.

Because you said your daughter kept telling you to slow down, which means she didn't feel safe and wanted to slow down so she wasn't scared anymore.. And I have no idea what speed you were going, as I do when I read stuff like that is imagine how I would be driving in that environment if I was solo.. And I will be first to admit if I'm driving solo I'm not the slowest of drivers.. Just when I have kids in, I'm pretending I'm driving a Corsa

I don't know how your WRX cars have been set up, but I have driven plenty of different makes and models and the impreza is by far not a bad car for handling... Guess it depends how confident you are in your driving skills I guess.

If the handling and brakes aren't up to scratch for you, then why you are still driving one?

But I will AGREE with the brakes though!!!!! Defo makes me think long before a stop if I have the distance to stop

That's a good point, I can see how it would be read in that way. She had it in her head that is was a super fast car, so was doing the same at 30, but I can assure you that she was giggling at the same time.

No tubbytommy, I realise that it isn't a super fast car, but I wanted one as it is a car you can have fun in while keeping on the right side of the law. Like an mx5, but with rear seats (where's that flame suit?!)

He drives an STI.

I do think even newage STI standard power is quite low by today's standard of performance car. Luckily they're nicely tuneable which many modern hatches are not.

Sti?! Wow pull out the go faster stripes quick!!!!

The WRX and Sti aren't as low as you think, the 2013 Sti of today has 300bhp which is as quick as the RS and faster than the golf R

The newage Sti's and WRX are cars of yesterday, with around 1k spend on mods puts them a head of today's cars in Bhp

Yeah but we were comparing HIS wrx to modern cars, so bringing a modern impreza into the argument doesn't really make sense

Newage Impreza's still have their place, as they can handle pretty big power with minimal upgrade. Particularly the STI due to the gearbox and stronger lump in later models.

And even if they are a bit more focused car , they're not a fuking rocketship as you might think... Put modern diesels 335D or such into comparison and you see the outcome....

Because they prob feel how you felt when you first spent your hard earned money on your car!!!

They are allowed to feel like they are driving the fastest thing ever, because they have earned that right by paying what they have paid!!

They don't join a forum to see some clown called "tubby tony"taking the **** and calling there cars a **** japbox!!

You might sit laughing while spamming an Internet forum, but these guys here don't, they have come here for help and advice on there current pride and joy

Yep, it was supposed to be a little ironic, after driving home today and taking the long way back. Every time I slowed down to 30 through the villages the cars I had left behind in the nsl areas soon caught me up, then sat on my bumper until I pulled away in the next nsl section. Edit: that wasn't ***** waving either, they just stayed at 40 everywhere, no matter the road or conditions. I slow down in villages, which seems to annoy them.

Well said xdevil666. I have driven plenty of faster cars and owned a few too, including an old AMG. Still glad I bought a plain old wrx though and brought it to the attention of a Subaru forum

jesus you will get the record for the biggest backtrack in scoobynet history.
started with willywaving about racing a porsche with your kids in the back screaming to slow down to slowing to 30mph holding up traffic in villages.

Do you have selective hearing too? You come across as a Daily Mail reader. That's not a compliment, just in case you are.

For the record, I was not racing the Porsche, my daughter was not screaming in fear and yes, I do drive at 30 in villages. Would the reaction have been the same if I said I was overtaken by and then followed a Skoda?

Maybe some new hobbies would be healthy?

Again, apologies for any offence given, I was just aiming to put across my excitement after a fun drive in my new (old and slow, really) car.
