dash is right for a 22, grey matt kinda colour to stop reflection, that would be hard to fake. Wheels look right.

wing colour change is just the light i suspect, if its that obvious on the pics would be a complete mess. Tbh it just may be totaly debadged.

A mate of mine who was looking to buy contacted the owner...

It seems a proper enough car and he has had loads of enquiries. He did say the owner said it had a full paint job a year or so ago to 'freshen it up'.

I would have thought with 26k on the clock it wouldn't need freshening up...!

Been stood 5 years, no service history so to speak of so with this in mind its probably priced realistically for the sort of car it is. If it had FSH / original paint then maybe it would have been a £25k car...??

Having said that its an auction and the STARTING price is £18k so he is looking offers over that amount.

However it is a genuine 22b so he said.

If I thought that car was straight and had £18k in my bank account that wasn't spoken for I'd be driving up there now to buy it.

A 22B is definitely worth half of what I paid for my current car. It might not be the fastest (a UK 2000 Turbo with a couple of grand thrown at it could be quicker with choice purchases) or even the best car Subaru ever made but it's certainly very special.

It's worth what the market (or a particularly keen individual) is willing to pay, and a straight and low mileage 22B is worth a lot more than that.

 

Guys, you're confusing "starting bid" with "classised ad" so chances are 18k won't even buy it...

Is this still going on lol, its worth what someone will pay! If it sells it's obviously worth it as the seller will have around 20k in his sky rocket.

If it's for sale forever then I would agree it is priced too high although we will all be dead so who knows/cares for that matter.

(And because of this you would have to search very long and hard to find such a good example).
It was a highly desirable car in its day, some would argue the best.
So many people will have regarded this as an icon over the years.
It was the first proper example of its kind (hot hatch).
It is a 30 year old car in excellent condition.
It is a very low mileage 30 year old car.
It is still a fine car to drive, even if it is dynamically lacking by contemporary standards.
It is a hugely important car historically for many reasons.

A mint 22B would fit some of those above reasons, and as they age the mint examples will become worth more and more.

 

It's worth what it's worth because people pay that price and more so!!

It's not as if they just plucked a figure out the air and decidd that's the price!

Look at Escort RS Cosworths how much they still go for!
Proper heritage cars will always demand premium and should hold there value if not increase it!

A lot of investment people say the best investment of you money is in classic or future classic cars!

Anyways if I had £18k spare I'd snap it up, do a proper advert then sell it for £26k

Full re spray why on such low miles, very strange no badge's, no service history, no previous mots to check the miles are correct for me far to many negatives.

I wouldn't pay half that for it and i'd barely be willing to part with £5k for the golf in troopers link, but I would give £20k for a 22B theoretically, but in reality i'd sooner have my Type R minty fresh running 330/350bhp for half the money and feel able to enjoy it, which is something i'd never be able to do if I owned any of the others.

Its been in a smash or something along those lines,Its come to the owner in bits and pieces he then had a car that he had stripped and built the car you see in the pictures from the donor car.

No history, no plaque, original engine isnt there, original twin plate clutch not there, steering wheel gone, wheels wrong shade of gold brakes all round wrong, top dash far to light.no uk history or metal booklet you get.

I beleive this was once a uk 22b but now its a redg silver-blue what ever gl subaru.

Such a shame but tbh for me its raving this easy for me could of been stolen cut to bits then rebuilt with another chassis vin number then redg as a subaru.

Not good at all.

In bits its worth around 12k i recon.

 

Now it all makes sense.

Just way too good to be true.
