You could get a diagnostic run on a dyno by someone that knows what they're looking at, to check the logs for ign., fueling and boost. You could combine it with power runs and bhp printouts. If it was to be okay (no detonation), and ending up with more power than 208bhp, then you're laughing...

Right I've arranged to speak to the current owner about the car in more detail later this week, previously information I have received about the car has come through my father in law who knows him. I can get the full history of exactly what has been done, what parts have been replaced/upgraded etc. I can do as you have said, check the injectors and turbo that is currently fitted and go from there. Options then will be to fit a stock ECU, run it for a while and then buy a later model, or go down the ECU/remap/exhaust route.

Just to make it more complex the uk ecu which suits the td04 has an immobiliser in it.

The jdm wrx ecu is mapped for vf turbo.

However i am sure esl could supply you an ecu with map on for uk on their daughterboard to sort for the moment.

The plot thickens.

Good idea re. ESL supplying a suitable board. Would they sell it at a nominal low price, then Simon? Or did you mean that they'd 'loan' it, in good faith?

I apologise for the probably stupid question, buy do you mean I need to replace my main ECU and then connect up the replacement with the ESL daughterboard, as in my current ECU is no good if I get an ESL?

I was hoping as the car runs, no probs with the immobiliser etc, that I would connect up the ESL with my current ECU and get it remapped, but you are saying it is not that easy?
