Do you think these powerstation porsche brakes are better than say cosworth ap's or other high end ap's for this money?

I can get second hand ap 6 pots for about £1100 with about a quarter of pad life left, or new d2, ksport,dp kits for about the same?

Sounds to me your after decent ROAD brakes, that never see any track work????
And if your saying "my current 290's are ****e so i must need 400s" ..... thats bull**** bud!
i run a heavy legacy as a road and track car, used to have standard 4 pots (same as you) with decent pads, discs and fluid, and on the road i couldnt phase them (actually thats a lie, i phased them once pushing hard coming down off the black mountain). On track they used to start to lose theyre feel after a few hot laps and faded badly after 10 to 15 minutes.
After that i went to brembos, and with braided lines, decent pads (performance friction z's), and semi decent one peice discs, and most importantly decent fluid, and youd have to be a complete superhero to get any fade on the road and have to try really hard to get any change in feel on the track.
SO, jist is, if its a road car you dont need 400mm discs (you do realise thats 16"???? getting a 16" disc with a caliper on under an 18" wheel .... really?), you dont even need AP 6 pots or owt more than a desent brembo setup.
And as said, its not just about what make of caliper is on there! It needs backing up with decent pads, discs, decent fluid, and a proper bedding in procedure.
If your going on track, fair enough, youll have more laps before fade with the larger brakes!
If your not going on track, anything more than a standard brembo is probably unnessascary expense.
Complete front setup ready to bolt on and go would probably set you back half as much as AP 6 pots, so you can figure out some rears to match.

AP 6 pots are overkill for a road car, honestly mate the AP 4pots with the right pads are the way to go if you want to stop over and over again without issue, they also have the benefit of fitting under 17' rims which is the best tyre size for scoobs.
It's all about the pads, braided lines and fluid, if your having problems, as with all things it's like Bob the builder says "you need the right tool for the job"

When you say overkill what do you mean? Will car get out of shape braking hard with them or do you mean they just work that well I wouldn't need them. What disc size are the 4pots. Lines & fluid good.although what fluid would you recommend with either of these 4 or 6 pot ap's

I am leaning towards the 6pot ap's but £1100 second hand (approx £1500 new) with not much pads left on them seems a little much (would be ok price with new pads) brembo are only £400-500 second hand. Are the ap 356mm 6pots worth twice what the 330mm 4pot brembos are?

I'd avoid second hand brembo's because they come with problems too and wiil probably require a re-firb, painting and new pads, which all in is £8/900 quid, i'd sooner have NEW AP 4pots for £300 more.
But I don't care what you do because it's your car and your money.

you keep going on about changing pads and discs and still suffer brake fad but no mention of changing to a decent brake fluid the reason for the fad is most likely down to the fluid not being up to the job I run Subaru 4pots on my car on the road and track and don't suffer fad and im very hard on the brakes give the fluid a complete change for something like motul rbf600 it doesn't matter what brakes you fit if the fluid is crap your brakes will fade

AP 6pots are for serious track weapons, another thing to consider when buying second hand is the cost of discs and pads, which id they require both is the thick end of £600, where as if you buy something like I have new you get fresh discs and pads of your choice.

Before complaining too much about having crap brakes, you might want to figure out whats wrong with yours first as a comparison....... standard brakes shouldnt be as bad as your saying unless your driving like a spoon.
A proper flush through with some motul 5.1 might just transform it. Stick in some decent pads and discs, and braided lines if your feeling particularly flush (£50 or so more). Then do a PROPER bedding in procedure (massively important).
Just bolting in second hand brakes could potentially mean youve got to do allof the above anyway, but the consumables for bigger brakes are a fair bit more!
If youve got your heart set on big brakes as jewellery then fair dos, fill your boots! However if you really want a setup you can have confidence in, budget around the best you can afford that has fresh pads and discs, bedded in with fresh fluid.

I think there is a certain amount of Bling fest going on with you and your not quit hearing what's being said because your obsessed with SIZE plenty of guys on here would give their hind teeth for a set of AP 4 pots and let you **** their MRS for a set of 6 pots so we understand where your coming from.
BUT seriously consider what your doing before you go out and spunk £2k on brakes because you'll be stuck with 18's and they're really not the best wheel size for a rapid scooby that handles really well especially on the road.

Same applies across the board, unless you find a set with nearly new discs and pads, it could end up costing similar to just buying new.
