As far as I and many others on here are concerned AP and Porsche are the daddies, there are a couple of others Alcon being one of them pretty much everything else ie D2, K sports etc are cheap coppies.

As the saying goes "buy cheap, buy twice"

you are blind by name twice, first porsche are made by brembo,
next cheap coppies are the same non monoblock calipers as ap's wich use most of scoobyneters
monoblock brembo and alcon are way ahead those ap's
ap's cp7040 use smaller pads than cheap ksports ,d2

Brembo may own the parent companies but have no day to day invovlement in the AP range as such............

AP cp7040's are simply a more cost effective road going caliper (and a decent one at that) and bear no relation to their competition range

a genuine AP 4pot 330mm kit will out perform and offer better feel than the std STi 326mm set-up...............

So ap 4pots are much better than brembo 4pots? Apparently these budget makes are made the same places as alot of the top end makes but without the big names on them??

355 AP kit will always outperform a std Brembo kit

Yes. Very expensive but you get what you pay for, the best out there.

In all honesty, the Ksports offer great value for money. No they aren't in the same league as the big AP's or the Porsche kit but for 99% of people the Ksports are perfectly good enough. If you can find a good used set then that will offer fantastic value as they don't cost much new so second hand won't be much more than a set of brembos.

AP Racing CP7040 6 pots with 355 or 360mm discs.

you will be hard pressed to find a better price than here:

http://www.reyland.co.uk/subaru-impezza/
the price is low simply because the quality of the rotors in particular is low IMO and have seen many others having issues - ask Banny about his "budget" rotors for one..............

The ksport 6 or 8 pot setup is far superior to the standard brembo imo.

Such is life is all I can say,I have also driven my mates car with AP 4 pots and they were also superb I can't really comment on what these company's that make these brakes sell them for as that is down to them to price up parts used skilled labour etc...but I know when it comes to quality I will always pay for it then have a inferior part fitted to my car.SJ.

Twice is asking a bit to much really the AP's are better but the Brembo calipers are far from being an inferior product, from my own experience there design is bulkier and they retain heat more then the AP calipers, but they can be made to work well as I have commented on before with the PF disc and pads set up.SJ.

+1

You shouldn't be getting brake fade on the road unless you're driving like a complete mong! Regardless of your brakes, you're going to seriously hurt yourself or worse, somebody else.
