Maybe you should upgrade your calipers?

Anyone got any suggestions?
This is all im saying,4pot subaru caliper is pants. I have found out the expensive way though by buying 3sets of disc & pad. I've never said brembo are cheap mate I just suspect they wouldnt be loads better than subaru 4pots with the fade situation so wasn't keen on having them. Not going out and buying them straight away anyway, just summin up my options. Like I've said on this thread I just want to know what people would choose from the budget brands not sizes or anything else mate. To be honest if I dont buy a budget brand new then I will probably get the brembo second hand

This is my (AND OTHERS) point/problem. ^^^^^^

How many times have I now told you that Brembo's are a massive improvement over the pants 4 pot subaru calipers. MASSIVE. I've had absolutely no brake fade on my road car with Brembo's, but loads previous with the old subaru 4 pots and different disc/pad combo's.

Honestly, you say you don't repeat yourself or ask the same flippin questions. Evidence YET again above!!!!!!

ARGH. GIVE ME STRENGTH!!!!!!!

To be honest I dont know where I have gone wrong on here? I started a couple of threads on brakes which were completely different questions,I done this so not to confuse the questions but for some reason im being harrased for apparently repeating myself. I am new to forums (and am parchally wondering why I joined with some peoples attitudes) but im not new to Subaru's,im on my 4th in ten years but this is the only modified one hence needing better brakes. I thought everyone would be friends on here but so many people are like bitches calling me liar etc. Why would I want to lie,no one can help me with issues im having or give advice to a lier!?!?

fair enough, for the last time.

subaru four pots are poor, you need the right pad and disc combo but if they are overheating a lot they are either broken or your driving like a **** and shouldnt be allowed on a public road where you may kill someone innocent.

brembos are far better despite what "you fink" but still require decent pads and preferably two piece discs.

ksports/d2 8 pots are the same, to avoid you asking if they are identical again , identical also means the same i.e. they are no different they are the same as one another like twins....................

the performance of d2/brembos is open to debate as too which is better but both will stop a wrx easily in your next street race bruv..........

have we covered it all???

Are K-Sport a budget brand?

This is why I am completely confused why you have rejected the Brembo option. they ARE the budget brand and arguably every bit as good as K-Sports on a road car.

The first ebc set up was on car when i got it and when they needed changing I put the pf pads and brembo discs and had fluid tested which still had the correct boiling point and when they wore out I got black Diamond pads & oe discs just to tide me by untill I upgrade whole brake set up to which I will do fluid then regardless if it shows good still or not

That's why i'm getting very frustrated with these threads. You just don't seem to listen to good advice from people with experience!

No one mentioned tarox??
I will read back over these threads sometime but someone has put the figures of various calipers on here and its either that ksport 8pots have the most pad area or d2 6pots.I will check though. I appreciate tarox comment but only want opinions on budget makes. I might not even buy budgets but want to know peoples choice of them cheers

This is my experience:

Subaru 4 pots were mildly improved with good discs & pads, but nowhere near even a standard brembo setup. Would say Brembo's were at least twice as good on a newage.

EBC red stuff pads - Poor performance & WAY too hard for road use. Will wear your discs FAST.
EBC green, not a lot better.
Black diamond discs - so far mine have done probably 10k and are still going strong. Probably 1 slightly warped with mild steering wheel wobble on heavy braking. My own fault more than likely.
EBC discs - Never had a problem on other cars.
Brembo discs - very good, no problems.
Fast road friction pads on brembo calipers, very very good for road use. no fade at all yet even with "spirited" driving on AutoBahn.

My best advice to you would be to see if you can go out for a drive with someone who has Brembo calipers fitted to a newage car to see the difference with your current setup. Also same for K-Sports and the other brands, massive improvement but will cost you FAR more than a good used set of Brembo's.

Did you look at my post above about the £400 K-Sport 8 pots with discs & pads??

Yea and I've obviously not choose right combo in past,I wont make mistake again. I need to use my brakes or wont slow down enough and will go over roundabout rather than around it lol. I sprint to like 100mph then brake hard to around 50mph repeatedly over series of roundabouts

Im not after buying any yet bud, just getting opinions on sizes in another thread and budget makes in this thread. I will be getting it mapped again first so not spending money on other things incase I need it for tuning issues

so you drive at 100mph in a built up area repeatedly with the knowledge your brakes arent up to scratch.

you sir are an utter **** and what gives genuine owners a bad reputation, i hope its only yourself you kill with this idiotic driving

saying things like this wont win you many friends on here mate-it is a bit daft

regarding the brakes-heres my 10p worth...........

cost isnt really the issue BUT what you get for your money is-let me explain

a USED (nearly 10 year old) set of front brembos will be about £450 then if you have your head screwed on you will want to at least stick on NEW uprated discs and NEW pads (£550-ish)

http://www.godspeedbrakes.co.uk/~god...?id_product=28

http://www.godspeedbrakes.co.uk/~god...?id_product=86

along with a decent fluid (£20) and whilst your doing it you may aswell uprate the hoses too (less than £100)

so thats an outlay of (give or take) £1100 which will be fine for a fast road car BUT for not a great deal more money (£100 or so) you can have a a NEW k-sport kit with NEW (not 10 year old) calipers not painted in flakey pikey gold paint

see here

i based the price on the kit with ds2500 pads

http://www.scoobyworld.co.uk/catalog...oducts_id=2146

if the difference was £500-£600 then i would suggest brembos but as its the price of a night out then i suggest the k-sports

im not saying that they give better stopping power as i dont honestly know-what i am saying is surely something that is new is better than something that is 10 years old

Look I know your only kidding well I hope you are but I have never asked what wheels the brakes fit under.when I asked what disc & caliper is too big,I meant what is too big a brake setup that it would create too much force on the front. ie the 400mm discs to which tubbytommy replied they wont fit under 18s.which is good to know but in all honestly I wasnt asking that! That seems to be the problem on here that too many people run away with the thread and dont concentrate on the actual original question in hand..
