Yes I know what you mean but you bought it on thinking that the engine had lots of work and was hoping it was forged and updated but in fact it's just a standard sti replacement with some bolt on bits

merv said it was up for a lot of money before then I would have been gutted to have bought it at the price he stated only to find out it's not forged and it's a bit of a sucker punch to you to find it's not had a lot of engine work as it seems you were hoping it did so hope you didn't pay silly money for it

I think the car looks ok to be honest and it's to a certain taste and hope you enjoy it as for the basketball player it makes no difference in the price if it dose I wonder how much mine is worth as I have Colin Mcrae co driver signed my sun visor

Just going off the post that it said a receipt for 6k engine build so just stating that it was a lot of money to find out it's standard sti engine with bolt on bits, did not know about all the other bits within the price

Don't do things by half kid do you

Like you say if it drives well, has been looked after and has been to the right places then hopefully you have a solid platform of a car and won't give you too many problems

Welcome back brother from another mother

Thanks Guys. Yes all good here. Bacon rolls on a Saturday morning eh? Those were the days. Cost me over 40 quid one Saturday......

How you doing? still same old, same old? I heard Si Bollen has a GTR now,? a serious car that. What you both got now ?

Apologies for the hijack.

David

Danny was up a few weeks back for some stuff. Told me that the farmer guy from over the back of Llandeilo that had my Black Blob car with the silver STi on the sides?, is in jail now. Not surprised.

Danny's gainfully employed now, not some fly-by-night builder any more.

Hywel was getting grants to do up the farm I believe and spending it elsewhere. I understood he had married a lady on the film TV business. l bet she's impressed if he's in nick...

Good luck with the restoration of the RA. I got into an argument with some numpties on here a few weeks back about my fully rebuilt STi -- Number 1 of 100 from 1993. They've only ever seen a picture of the car and decided that it was a ringer. The car is painted "Repsol Blue", always has been and all the chassis numbers and tags match, even the body stamps and seat belt dates and the date codes on electronics. But NO!, because the car is only shown in catalogues as being available Black Silver or Red it cannot be genuine...in their limited intelligence brains.

We've had the car totally in bits and it is absolutely correct. I've been in the trade a few years now [ 50 years next year in April ] and l know a bit.

Ah well we have to have a few clever ones like us around for the numpties to have something to aim at.

Good luck all. David

Pleased your all fighting fit there, probably more money in bacon rolls than in Subarus these days lol.

I'm heading into year 6 with the Type R bloody things get under your skin.

All the lads here are ok and yes Simon does have a GTR which he's enjoying.

Yes the Black Sti, went well as I recall, proper farmers get away car that one

We all know how good your products are David but the owner needs to keep on top of the thing to make it stay in shape. I hope the previous owner to Bry was as fastidious when he had it.

Well glad you never spent near 10k for it that's all I only commented as you said it was a 6k engine build then later found out it was just a standard sti engine which 6k IMO is a lot for a standard sti engine

Welcome back Bry, what happened with your blob after..?

Sounds like you got yourself. Descent sorted car there, the paint is probably a marmite thing, but what does it matter,if you like it, keep it, enjoy it. A complete change of colour or a re-paint in White isn't gonna cost the earth (or shouldn't). Ive no doubt there's people who don't like what I've done, but it doesn't bother me a gnats ***!

Get yourself up on the b4560 On an early morning and use the car as subaru intended,!

Hiya fella really loved my blob eye but I think because it was a project car and only new bits went on when last owner could afford too,the little niggly bits started to play up and it was constantly down three arches and in the end I thought get rid and just come back with another scooby that has been to good garages and had work done by the right people,as soon as I looked at paperwork and seen RCM and API I thought maybe..once I took car for a spin and boost kicked in I fell in love with scoobies all over again and bought it.. Yes it was up for 10k but i paid just over 3k which I thought was ok.. As for marmite that is the pet name for the car Dean and dan (three arches) have just changed discs/pads and serviced it and it's ready for pick up tomorrow hope you can make next months meet be good to catch up kid

One thing that did catch Tom out and you need to be aware of, is that the wheels, which were new, didn't take kindly to the car being stood in this type of weather with brake dust on them. We had to send them back where they came from to be refurbished after very few miles.

Don't leave it parked outside with brake dust on the wheels.

Good Luck with it. David

No, an expensive load of work.
He could have had a complete stripped bare respray for that and plenty left for Christmas. Car - and the decorations - would have looked far better.

Er.... but then I suppose performance and reliability counts

Nice to see you back Bry !
Look forward to seeing it on 13th.

Know what you mean about the niggles, every car has them, just some more than others. Wise decision though if you were constantly throwing good money after bad with it. Sounds like you've got yourself a good car there mate then, just in time for playtime I'm the snow,!

Uncertain on the Dec meet, I play pool every Wednesday in our town league so don't get to make many meets, I'll see what happens closer to the time though and see if I can get one if the lads to cover for me

I'm very surprised at the negative sounding responses etc to this thread.

Bry's a fab chap and what he wants to do with his dollars are very much his business (Bry you should not have to disclose what you pay for a car mate, just to get others off your back). There is being constructive (or helping), then there is downright ridicule (if thats how you spell it lol).

Credit where its due, questioning someones purchase openly......
Bry mate, just let the w#nkers w#ank.......

Its not rocket science is it. Bry saw a car, drove it, liked it & bought it....Thats it, end of story!

Knocking/questioning is going to do nothing to Bry besides add 'new car worry' (which we all have when buying, especially bloody Subaru!).

All I can say is "Welcome back Bry, a real nice guy is back in the fold!"

Dave

p.s. they are all jealous really mate.......

Lol, i should add that I tried to make contact with a previous owner of my car via "another clubs" Facebook page......You know, I posted a pick of the car and said "anyone know who owned this before"......

Well, within seconds someone pipes up "Yes thats XXX's old car".....

Cool i think, i have a name!

10 seconds later someone else posts "thats looking good I thought it was a write off"!:frea k3:

Fortunately, it was just northern humour.....but talk about 'that sinking feeling lol'

I really like Bry,s car looks like no other and to me that's cool and I totally agree with the above if it floats your boat then **** everyboby else,If Bry wanted the real new car worry he should have bought a hatch all you read is about the engines blowing up nothing constructive just the negative aspects of hatch ownership, but as you rightly sayif you parted with the Wonga for it then live with it.Looking forward to seeing it at the meeting if I can get there.

I have to agree with some of what your saying Davet, it's a crying shame some people try to rain on another's parade without knowing facts, at the same time it's up to the owner of the car involved as to whether they will disclose any information further, and I would completely understand if Bry didn't want to divulge any further with the grilling he's been getting.

Stick to it Bry, and love your car for what it is, happy motoring :-)
