Unfortunately it wasn't a 0-60mph blast, was a 40-70 and you will be pushed to find those figures

I was hard pressed - couldn't find them lol

But 30-70

ST 30-70 6.4
WRX standard 30-70 5.7 secs
WRX PPP 30-70 5.1

You should've had him... I'd put it down to him taking you by surprise, either that or his car had been modded

At least it's STI rust.

Blobeye WRX PPP - 4.8 secs/14.1 secs
Blobeye STI standard - 5.2secs/13.7
Those figures are pretty mad, if they are accurate.

Just re evaluating my options, pipe down lowly STi owner it seems you have Spec C envy.

Besides nothing is definite or decided yet, now get back to dreaming of owning a Spec C.

A Focus ST has 225bhp standard WRX blob has 225bhp??? But the 4wd transmission losses on the WRX should make the ST a faster car and not forgetting it produces a lot more torque then the WRX, which is real world counts a lot more then BHP!!! Focus ST looked pretty standard(standard exhausts)

Oh Trust me, they are accurate, why do you think they get their knickers in a twist.

Oh and if you stick in a de-cat up pipe it gets worse.

Just out of interest; being 6 speed will an sti not reach 60 in second gear?
Accounting for the slower 0-60 time over the ppp wrx.

no it needs third, the story of acceleration after 60 is far different and you are comparing a modded wrx (the ppp is a remap) with a standard sti

LOL. it wasn't until I turned 19 in 1997 that I could get a loan for a Series 1 RS Turbo to end up binning it 3 weeks later ;(. I then bought an XR3 with RST poorly running gear and body kit as donor, but as luck had it it was an RST with an XR3 logbook Them were days when all RS's were ringers. LOL

i started this thread for one reason. i wanted to know the differences between the cars

i did NOT want to know what car you drive
now we just have 4 pages off:
"iv ownened this and that " "my wrx is fastter than your sti" "i think a is better than b"

i dont care!!!!!!!!!!!

so far 53 is the only person who has given me anything decent! thank you 53
thats a decent list

if anyone would like to contribute to that then feel free

to sum it up i want facts not your opinions

If you wring it's neck, the 5 speed in mine will do a kick in the **** off 60mph in 2nd gear.

Is't the WRX PPP on the absolute rev limit in 2nd to get the 4.8 before changing gear, so it won't do many before you're putting an STI lump in it anyway

the sti has a 6 speed box, the wrx 5

sti brembo brakes all round the wrx four pots on front

sti has big spoiler, colour coded side skirts and spats on front bumper
wrx has small spoiler, black side skirts and no spats

sti has blue interior with sti alcantara seats and centre rev counter with shift light and i.c water spray, wrx doesnt.

engine in sti is far stronger with bigger turbo and avcs heads.

and a few minor differences too

Engine Specs
Bigger Brembo Brakes
Inverted Suspension, Larger ARB's, Solid front droplinks, alloy wishbones
Stronger 6 Speed Gearbox, clutch, flywheel, solid gearbox mount, stronger diff etc
Interior, clocks, smaller wheel
Aero Package
Larger Intercooler and uprated Y pipe
Larger Scoop and Undertray
Larger VF30/35/43 (UK) turbo
Larger Injectors
Decatted Up pipe
Faster flowing exhaust system
Larger wheels and tyres...

The list goes on mate, the difference in parts is huge
the list dose go on but no one knows where the list is kept!

i post on here to ask and all i get is "you should have bought an sti"

the reason i want to know is because its a better car so:
  • this will show me where to look to to upgrade the car in the future
  • i can then nick bits off the sti if i want to upgrade that bit on the cheep but not go for a full upgrade
  • im curious as to whats better about the sti. why cant i upgrade my car to be better than it?

intercooler spray as standard is interesting to know

my side skirts on my WRX are blue like the rest off the car

avcs being variable cam timing?

"engine in sti is far stronger" what sort off bhp can they both take in standard form?

why is it stronger? suposidly the bottom (or should i say center since its a H4 lol) is the same?
