I'd also like to know if saving 300lb of weight puts more, negligable or less strain on an engine/gearbox.
lol do you actually have any idea wtf you are talking about?? so if i get long gear ratios i can run 2000bhp through my engine

its not sti owners that quote that figure its engine builders etc.

where are these 400bhp wrxs on standard internals and a wrx is nowhere near 300lb lighter than an sti.

are you just making up stuff to convince yourself you havent bought the inferior model?

i heard the wrx can go back in time if it hits 88mph and the sti cant, its true i tell yah i read it somewhere, probably the same place that quoted you that weight saving and the strength
of the internals

you fckuing halfwit.

That would be an utterly pointless race for that very reason and that's not what owning a CTR is all about.

There's a lot of WRX envy on this thread.

there is a lot of made up stuff from wrx owners, 300lb lighter and 400bhp on standard internals.

even you know thats not true being an engine building expert.

No it's a poo bit of kit, the temp sensor doesn't seem to get that much oil up to it past the pressure sensor. I swapped them round but the temp sensor is too long and cuts off the gallery.

I can't comment on what a wrx new age or even classic can take as I've never pushed that hard. But in reality if an STI is faster then who cares, it seems the STI brigade are getting upset at the mere suggestion something might come close to it.

What is the weight difference between Wrx and STI?

I'm pretty sure 'a 2000bhp WRX will take 5th gear launches all day long.' If you get the metaphor.

...and who said a WRX is 300lbs lighter than an STI?

Stick to erm ...stickers?

You're going to feel awfully sheepish when you read back my posts, especially the one where I already point out the difference is 80kg (176lbs)...

3M FTW.

Again if anyone is bright enough to know, will a 300lb weight saving be easier or harder on an engine/gearbox if at all?

Quick eye test for the ST* owners:

Is this WRX Red or Green?

not a trader mate , just like to try different cars
the price on the civic was too good to turn down and I knew i could make a few k if I didn't like it
and I didn't so took the good bits off to make £££

take a look how many cars iv had sold trying to find one I like , but all them bought my r1 and payed for 3 holidays last year ;-)

I'll tell you what though iv never bought a wrx
as I only believe in buying the best , so that's why I tend to go for sti's ;-)

If you don't like thrashing an engine don't buy a Honda VTEC. Only a subnormal gibbon with cotton wool for brains would ever buy a car without test driving it so it's hardly a fair criticism saying you have to rev it as you know that within 5 minutes of the test drive FFS!

P.S. Honda S2000 - best car I ever owned
And I bet you didn't look at all gay driving around with the roof down during the summer? Or maybe your one of those middle-age guys that drives around in the winter with the roof down, wearing a scarf??!!

Just your shade this one....

Sounds like a big ***** in the CTR armour then. You have to be in the right gear at the right time for any useful progress.

I wouldn't call it a ***** in the armour as such That is kinda what they are about tbh but then you don't have to cane the life out of an EK9 or an EP3 to make progress, they are very well balanced cars and you can keep more than enough speed up through twisties. A motorway is the last place I'd be "racing" one tbh. Bedford Autodrome and the like are a different matter. They are a totally different car to a Subaru and aren't even really being compared to them in this thread. I've only chined up as I own both a CTR and a Scoob and find the former to be a very good drivers car.

Has the original poster actually had his question answered in between all the bickering?
