I agree completely Gaz, there are a lot of new members who'll ask advice then ignore it, or cherry pick the cheapest option.

However, I tend to ignore them, as after 3-4 months they've ended up with big bills for new engines, scrapped their Subaru, left Scoobynet and changed to a normal car.

The issue for me is that it's a lot of Scoobynet regulars who aren't posting anymore, as they can't be arsed with the abuse they get if they have a mod the clique class as 'un-acceptable'

the facebook page was designed for our clique to have a laugh amongst ourselves out of the public view as to not cause problems on here, the page is also REQUEST only so everyone there has requested to be so and can leave at anytime.

I'm not aiming at certain members in particular, it's more widespread than a few. Just look at any thread mentioning a Hatch Impreza for example.

From time to time threads appear that are just begging for sarcasm, and I get involved in that myself.

If just seems these days people post on threads just looking for an argument.

It's not just restricted to Scoobynet BTW, seems to happen more and more on other car forums.

As for the FB/FC thing, there have been quite a few over the years who thought they could take the banter and as soon as it gets a bit up close and personal they get the hump and start making threats etc, which is basically a joke, if you can't take the stick get the **** out, simples

I'd be on the FB page but tbh it's the same old boring **** and gayallen and tubbs don't posses the intelligence to entertain me, so I went in for a look and decided it wasn't for me, same old same old, and it sure as hell ain't as good as FC used to be, ripping the **** out of poor defenseless retards is hardly sport, like shooting fish in a barrel.

I've got nothing against tubbs and jay and as they say they DO know their stuff and I totally agree that this place has gone down, but I don't think it's their fault, it's the NEW breed of Subaru owners fault, some proper retards that can barely string a sentence together, so as far as i'm concerned it's better they don't post, because when they do they don't ******* listen to what those of us who have been there and done it say anyway, you only have to look at the **** that was banging on about brakes last week to see that and he was one of the better ones FFS, six pages on two threads to ask what was basically the same question and didn't listen to a word of it.

The really amusing thing about the FB page is people join up and just think we are a bunch of haters who nothing about Subarus, to them a prime example of an Impreza is covering it in Monster stickers and fitting the biggest, loudest exhaust they can find....FFS, a copy cat page has recently started called "The Good Modified Subaru Page" I mean, the name itself tells you type of owner who has started the page!

I now pick and choose which forum topics I try and advise on mainly because I can no longer be arsed, as everyone now a days appears to a Subaru expert regurgitating info they have read.

 

Or they ask a question and don't like the reality of the answer and throw their toys out the pram Normally they know the answer they want before they ask simply because they are the first of their gang to buy a Subaru

Like I've said before, most people can afford to buy a Subaru, but running them is another matter..... especially doing it properly.
