A slight mishap at a Paul Walker memorial meet

I have refrained myself from commenting on anything to do with Paul Walker up until this point, but this is just ******* stupid, seriously. I honestly do not understand all the hype concerning Paul Walker. A man pranged his car for driving too fast which resulted in his death. That happens on a daily basis so why aren't there big tributes for those people? I know that Paul Walker has starred in films, but so ******* what? Yes, a few tributes are to be expected, but it looks to me like morons are having chav-filled meets just for the sake of it, and using Paul Walkers death as an excuse to meet up, even though they probably know nothing about him. This video shows complete t1ts driving around in sheds and parking them in shopping retail carparks (there's probably a McDonalds off view of the camera), just generally being a nuisance. How can anyone enjoy such an event?

he was a star of crap films although he did have a brief spell as a time attack driver and was a car enthusiast.
probably the same idiots that have an "if in doubt flat out" sticker on their turbo 2000's forgetting the fact colin killed himself, his kids and another family in a helicopter crash that he had no licence to pilot and was flying to low

pretty much my thoughts on it, although he was not the driver but it makes me laugh that the local chavs in the corsa, saxo, generic front wheel drive shed are convinced they had something in common with him.

Ever remember that episode of top gear, where some young lads with a car modded by halfords from the look of it,challenged james and some older men with beards to a hill climb..more and more nowadays,I'm starting to feel like the bearded car man when I see crap like this going on...

He was more than an actor, he did a huge amount for charity.
TBH these 'tribute' events are just an excuse for a car meet, if someone really wanted to do something in Paul's memory they'd make a donation to one of the charities he supported.
Helping those in need, which is what he did himself, is what he'd have wanted.... not a carpark full of Corsa's/Saxo's (IMO of course)

I'm guessing (and kind of hoping ) his insurance company will tell him to go play with himself when he makes a claim, it's not as though it's accidental is it.

I think this thread has kind of 'restored' some hope for the Impreza world.
I avoided any Paul Walker / Collin McRae hysteria however i can't help noticing all these memorial meets, stickers on people's cars and bla di bla seem to have attracted the kind of folk who said 'celebs' would not even bat an eyelid to the sort of car they call their P & J.
Furthermore most of the folk with said stickers most likely aren't the deceased biggest fan after all but just seemed to jump on the bandwagon like sheep and unfortunately there are a lot of Subarus involved in said meets.
TubbyTommy hit the nail on the head though

I think plenty of folk who attended McRae Gathering in 2008 are on here and contributed to Charity in doing so would take offence to you accusing them of being on some bandwagon

That's a fair point Riida, most of us got into Subarus (back when they were actually good ) through the likes of Colin Mcrae, the Mcrae thing is more than putting a sticker on a car and jumping on the bandwagon.

As for "TSG" Track and street Grampian, They really need to have a look at what there advertising and the name there getting.
There idea of track is a blast up Crail now and again. Driving dangerously in the Inverurie and Aberdeen area.
Stupidly modified corsa's and such like. A lot of them get kick's out of this and i dont understand why, Even the Fuzz dont seem to botherd
U
Back in the day at Tunstall in Stoke (2003 ish) you would see this happening a lot.
But nowadays . . it's just ****ing stupid. RANT OVER

Very true it happen's all up and down our great British isle's. . Moaning. . Queing . . .Driving like a *** round car park's in clapped out sheds . . It's now a " Done thing"
Did see a focus with a RIP COLIN MCRAE Sticker on it ages ago. . I just wanted to slap the owner
However 100 % respect for the "occasional" Richard Burns RIP sticker. Was just as much a icon and a talented driver who had his life cut short.
Go to a Paul Walker Memorial Meet They Said. . . It Be Fun . . .

I'm all for meets that are well organised, police approved and donate to charity, you get a good turn out of nice cars and decent people.
Paul Walker in a big way got a lot of young lads into the modified car scene, they watched his films and copied the cars .. only on a really ****ty level ..
Same sort of way Colin did for a lot of Subaru drivers. Only big difference, is the people who copied Colin, for the most part, spent a lot of money on cars they cherish, we have some amazing 1/4 miles and even some basic rally drivers. Paul's followers throw big speakers in Micras and hand brake into car parks.
Saying that, most Scooby drivers are now moving away (including me) and the people buying our old cars are street racing them and generally being ***** ..

It's human nature to pick and choose the parts of peoples lives they want to celebrate and remember them for. NM for example

me too but im moving onto another subaru though but not an impreza, im putting my impreza away in the garage until i decide what to do with it, it doesnt deserve to be filled with speakers and handbraked in a mcdonalds car park or worse still be covered in wrc stickers

The max power scene was around before F&F. I suppose the former may have been helped a bit by the later, but the F&F was more about the JDM 'scene' in the US. The British max power scene was always more about cosmetic mods on crap hatches, and I suppose from a certain POV you could see the F&F as an inspiration.

I speak to several Subaru owners each day, both current owners and new owners, and the majority are 35-40, live in a decent postcode, and have respectable jobs.
OK, the flipside could be the 'undesirables' aren't insuring theirs, but in my local area there are 7-8 Subaru's i see on a regular basis, and they are pretty much standard (bar a set of wheels and exhaust)
I'm not being a snob... the area i live in is nice, but nothing exclusive, but i wonder if these badly modified cars are more about the people who live in a certain area, rather than the cars they drive.
It makes me laugh when people come on here saying they are selling their cars due the image. If someone thinks your wife looks 'undesirable' would you get rid of her, as you're worried about others views of you?
A lot of insecurity these days IMO.
There are only 2 cars in my area with graphics on... an Audi A4, stickered up to look like a 90's touring car, and Tom Chiltons road-going Focus ST
I don't see all the local Audi or Ford owners panicing and selling their cars in disgust though.

Ive always wondered about the disparity bewteen the RB and the CMc reactions. I suspect that CMc being the original Impreza champion coupled with the suddeness of his demise is what swung it.
