T1R's aren't a bad tyre.

I don't like them myself on a Newage, but they are decent enough.

T1Rs are not such a poor tyre that they would randomly blow out without a fault, possibly had sidewall damage or puncture already?

Oh and claim or not, you are still obliged to notify future insurers of the fact you had an accident.

Nothing wrong with Toyo tyres, it just sounds like you were unlucky to me and a blowout can happen on any tyre for any number of reasons.

All I've ever used on my WRX are Toyo Proxes T1r's, very grippy and have never let me down

This, that's what your insurance is for.

It's proper fooked. Your best bet is probably to strip what is left for parts.

I don't think that they are terrible, but they are no Goodyear F1's.

imo two choices:
1. break for parts to recover loss - dont tell insurance.
2. tell insurance, get a payout for a new car (they will right that off looking at it) as well as buy it back for pennies to break for parts to put towards next years premium.

Your goin to be out of pocket no matter how you play it .
If no other vehicles or government property was damaged & you are in possession of the car . Cancel your insurance , sorn the car , take the hit for the purchase & decide wether to rebuild, donor , or part out - either recover some £ or keep spending are your choices .

Bad news , so sorry for your pride / very slippy roads about last cpl weeks
Can be fun but also tragic

Regards

Nothing wrong with T1R's. Although they aren't a great cold weather tyre. People tend to run tyres till they're old cracked or running on the threads. I picked up a set of wheels recently that a lad had been running with 10 year old tyres on, "with good tread" ! ...they went on the bin ! Also people don't understand that T1R's need pressure to perform to their best If you're running 30/28 your running them too low for example. On a newage they aren't as good as a classic but they're a good tyre nonetheless

Word of warning. Some insurers do not let you buy the car back. They sell it to an auction house and then you have to bid for it...

When you next do a real quote and they say what mods.. .you say none and then they say - online you ticked xyz why? To which I replied. I wanted to see who would insure me and how much for...

They watched and keep everything... Use a different name

They keep records of all quotes, so they can tell when people have checked if they declare claims, points, or other material facts

If you take the policy and end up having a claim they'll have a note that you've tried the quote with or without claims/points and will more than likely look very closely into any claim you have.

The popular one is when people quote on different postcodes to see which is the cheapest.

Not all insurers do this, but it's happening more and more.

That doesn't work either.

Many insurers do credit scoring when you do a quote. If your name, dob and postcode don't tally up it'll give a higher price, or not quote at all.

It's all about anti-fraud.

It does this to the degree that if you're a Thomas and you put Tom, it'll bring up a different price.

Again, this isn't for all insurers, but more and more are quoting this way.

Don't think quotes from that long ago would have been logged
