I think a sticky is definitely needed on certain subjects on this site to make newbies get a straight and informative answer to there questions,to the OP your a Adult I assume do what you likethere is no use asking on here as you will never get a definitive answer with all the pros and cons, just replies that it's chav and it makes noises,it's a taboo subject I don't really know why though,my only advice is that they do work better if runing your car mafless but can be used with the maf get all the mods you have on your car mapped in properly, and make sure it's a good brand from the likes of Turbosmart,TIAL etc.....SJ.

Pointless task for the Admin/Mods. Stickies very rarely get read by newbies, especially this one,

I think when newbies sign up, there should be a place for them to post before they can post anywhere else. All txt speakers etc get banned, along with their IP's.

Am I the only member that knows how to use the f&cking search feature?
As for not knowing that a turbo powered car would have had a dump valve fitted as standard, can I suggest a quick pop onto YouTube and watch a video on how a turbo setup works.

dont understand why having one or not having one is such a big issue, surely its down to the owners free choice, i have one, i love and will continue to love until otherwise. surely there are other things to worry about?

But this is the way all dump valve threads go, like it or not.
However, you cannot argue with the logic that if you run a vta without having a remap, there are potential risks such as over fuelling, bore wash and possible piston ring failure.

Relax. I'm jesting. Don't worry about what anyone else thinks. You can't do anything about it anyway!

I have a 2006 hawk sti and when I come round to getting my car mapped again with the decat I'll put one on.
There's so many different sounds to choose from chavvy ones and not so chavvy.
Dump valves are old skool and take me back to the 90's when I used to go about in RST's and cossies, they always put a smile on my face when I hear one as long as it's not coming from a punto turbo on 17in 3 spoke with a big bore 4!
If you like one get one and don't listen to anyone else, from what I have heard on here you are best to add one when getting a map done so your ecu adjusts to the lack of air recirculating back into the engine.
