That price seems ok if he has a good rep. I cant remember what mine cost to have done to be honest but think it was around this figure although paint and fitting were at 2 different places.

The guy was recommended by my hairdresser. She owns a mint RB320 that's she loves like a child, and she was well pleased by the respray he did on her roof, so that's good enough for me. The fact that my car is the same colour as an RB320 also gives me confidence that he will get a good colour match!

Well, I like this place so much that I decided to pay up and become a full member, which also means that I have been able to advertise my Turbosmart Supersonic in the for sale section, if anyone is interested!

Cool, that's a nice car you have there. I was looking at Skylines when I decided to upgrade to a turbo charged car, from my Celica T Sport. I decided on a Scooby in the end though as wanted a newer car, and can't afford a new GT-R, although would love one one day.

Oh yeah, I should do really! Consider it done.

I'm currently standing next to the dyno at a Indigo while Anthony maps my car. I've never seen this done until now and I have to say that I'm cringing a little as my car has the nuts revved out of it!

Morning folks

Sorry to keep you waiting but I didn't end up getting out of Indigo until 5pm and then yes, spent all evening driving around and then got home and went straight to bed cos I was knackered lol! First Saturday I have woken up without a hangover in a long time!

Anyway, it turned out it was only making 210/220 stock! The map needed a fair bit of work as the boost was very lumpy and came in and out through the revs. So now it is making 260/310, which is not quite as much as I had hoped for but it's still a lot more than it had, and more importantly it has transformed the car. You can now hear the turbo spooling up at just over 2k RPM and the car pulls like a train to about 5500. To give you an on the road example it now pulls from 90 to 110 like it used to from 70 to 90. It's much smoother too.

While I was a little disappointed when I got the initial figures, after driving it I'm very happy and at the end of the day 50 bhp and 80 lb ft increase is pretty good I think.

Anthony at Indigo did say that he expected it to make more, and felt that the issue was my Afterburner decat downpipe. He said that it needed opening up in to a full 3" pipe , as it starts at 3" but then quickly tapers down.

So after discussions we have decided that a VF34 turbo and exhaust mods to open it up to 3" will be the next things to do, although I'm gonna have to treat the wife to a holiday first! At least future mapping will only cost £100 ph now that I have the ECU tek licence.

I'm waiting for my dyno graph to be emailed to me so will post it on here when I get it. Anthony did say that his dyno reads on the low side too.

All in all I had a good day at Indigo, so want to say thanks to Anthony and all the guys there for all their work on my car and for their hospitality. Thanks to LuckyWelshChap for previously offering to come down and drive me to get something to eat, but was ok in the end as one of the lads popped down the Chinese at lunchtime and picked me up some chicken fried rice, and I spent most of the day siting on a comfy sofa in their warm office, playing poker on my laptop!

Hi mate, thanks!

I don't know Simon but I know Karen as she cuts my hair once a month. It's quite funny because before we knew that each other were Scooby enthusiasts my hair cut used to take 10 minutes but now it's more like half an hour with all the car chat. Much more interesting than the usual idle chat that you have to endure when going to the hairdressers lol!

My spoiler is being painted as we speak but I will bear you in mind if I need to find someone else in future.

I've just been out for another blast in the motor, and it really is like having a new car. I leave it to warm up for a bit longer now as Indigo put Silkolene Pro S 10/50 in it, it had Shell Helix Ultra 5/40 in before. I know that 10/50 isn't really necessary for road use but I do like to put my foot down often!

Just did a few 60-100 runs with my mrs sitting next to me with a stop watch, so not the most accurate method but averaged around 7 seconds, so pretty damn quick for a car that cost me under 8 grand with mods!

Cheers Graham, after doing 200 miles over the weekend I can safely say that it is just like owning a new car. Smoother, faster and just generally a much nicer and more fun car to drive. My Mrs took it for a spin yesterday and she commented that it's now easier to drive cos you can just wack it in 5th and potter along, if you like.

That FMIC will see you good for BIG power if that's part of your future plans, and it will look nicer than the current hole in the bumper too lol. I'm looking forward to seeing your plans come together mate.

I'm going to be sensible now and go for a brake upgrade next. Either a set of Sti Brembos or a Godspeed big disc conversion. From what I have read, the WRX 4 pot calipers are pretty good, but the standard disks are too small, so the Godspeed conversion may do the job. It's about £520 I think. Add on £60 for a set of hoses and that should be my brakes up to scratch for under £600.

Well if the Mrs approves its a goodun lol

I'm just about to have my calipers refurbed at £85 a corner (and have penciled in a godspeed big disc kit for later) as car sat around for 6 months cos I was not to well and they seized up a bit

Only bought the fmic at moment because it was on group buy on here from Japspeed @ £200 but it will sit on shelf for a while till I can afford a dump valve and upgrade fuel pump and remap.

But it certainly sounds as though it will be worth it if I end up as happy with results as you are

Lol, that's it mate, keep the wife happy and have an easy life! Nah, she is damn good to me and puts up with far more than most women would. We are not struggling but not exacly rich either so she has been pretty good about all the new toys I have been buying recently!

When you drive your car for the first time after the remap you will certainly be smiling! I have started a thread in the engine management section to see if I can get any advice on getting that extra bit of power that my setup should be providing, not cos I'm not happy with it how it is, but after spending a fair bit on mods, I want to get the most that I possibly can out of them.

Hi Fatboy, the posh part of Newport I live in is Langstone, but I know where you mean. I do miss London but I go back and visit often, cos funnily enough, my brother still lives there. You are right about some of the roads and the scenery here, amazing!
Langstone - that's not Newport, that stockbroker belt Newport I know it well, I had several mates who used to live there. Very nice. Great lanes just to the north of you and up towards Wentwood/Usk valley - I used to do road rallies up around there in the mists of antiquity. There's still a good stage rally in Caerwent each year as well, around around the military site (former underground explosives factory).

I also used to have a girlfriend in Chepstow so I was regularly passing through Langstone on my bike in my pre-car days ever hopeful that I was on my way to or from a portion

As for Ringland.. I used to ride very quickly through there. They used to have a local police station there that used to shut when it got dark for safety reasons lol.

Haha yes, the locals would be horrified if they heard me describing Langstone as Newport! It is a really nice place and I'm just fortunate to be able to live there because of the relatively large rent that I get from my little flat in Hemel, cos I'm no stockbroker lol.

I know the surrounding countryside well, as we used to live in Usk, and my wife keeps her pony at a farm in Wentwood Forest. I didn't know about the local rally stage though, will have to look in to it!

I really enjoy the drive up the A48 through Chepstow, in to England, through Coleford in the Forest of dean, and then back in to wales through Monmouth and down the A449 back to Langstone. That's a great Sunday blast!

Ringland still has a local police station. The thing is there is a Greggs at the shops there, so I get brave on a Saturday morning and venture down there, getting some dodgy looks as my shiny black Scooby roars through what looks like one of the most deprived areas that I've seen. Said it all when I saw a punch bag hanging off someone's front porch and the guy sitting there drinking a can of Special Brew lol.
