I drilled a small hole in the bottom of my rear light cluster, this was a tip from the rx8 forum.
Sort the rust ASAP, mine has a few chips that became blisters and the paint then fell off..
Rust around the brake light in the boot lid is very common, I'd take the light out and go town with waxoyl.
Also on ours, we haven't got mudflaps so the bottom of the front wings are chipped/rusted.

MOT tomorrow, fingers crossed.

I've been given a lift in one once with the driver booting it over a wet roundabout with a bit of tail out action. It felt reasonably quick.

Thought I would update this 6 months in incase anyone's interested.

I have had a few minor problems, most have been sorted out for almost no cost.

Car is very sensitive to fuel type, runs really rough on any 95, sticking to v power or momentum and all is good.

Done a few mods, back box, wheels refurbed, tablet install in the sat nav unit, short shifter. All completely needless but worthwhile at the same time

Apart from the few minor problems, car has been 100% reliable, always starts first time whether hot or cold.

Fuel consumption seems terrible but is actually no worse than my impreza when measured. 18-20 around town, 26 ish on a run.

Contrary to the stories, oil consumption is absolutely fine, mine uses half a litre of 10/40 semi synthetic every 1000 miles.

It's an absolute hoot to drive in the dry and as said before the power delivery is addictive, feels slow due to the lack of torque but if kept on the boil is actually surprisingly quick. You can carry such a high corner speed when compared to most cars.

All in all I don't regret it one bit, yes I am aware an engine problem could be round the corner but a rebuild isn't horrendously expensive at a specialist and the car will then be better than new.

So if you have never driven one I would recommend you do, you might be surprised. Very capable car for very little money.
