Doesn't need a ******* twinscroll though! Would be nice if it did but all they need to do is fit a tunable and reliable engine like the 2.0 newage STi one, updated for 2015 so that it doesn't drink like Amy Winehouse and doesn't kill the whales with its emissions.

why is it the 1st thing you all moan about when you have seen the new impreza is ....it is only ??? BHP don't you think that Subaru have developed the car with that power for a reason and not to annoy all of the forum guys around the world. That amount of power on a road car is sufficient for most needs anyway and if you wanted XXXBHP go and buy a McLaren or Ferrari or other supercar......
it is like spoilers on cars the manufacturer spends a lot of money testing the cars shape and wind tunnel test and then the modifier brigade come along and put spoilers made by boeing on them and think they are doing the trick ( little do most of you know about spoilers )
just my opinion.....

I would consider one even with crap interior/toys/no auto/dubious looks if they released a robust 2.5 10:1CR with direct injection and twin scroll that had 400HP and fully spooled its turbo at a 2000RPM with CO2<225g/km for £30k.
As it is, the engine tech is about 20 years out of date.

For built-in peace of mind, every vehicle (excluding WRX STi) marketed by Subaru (UK) Ltd is covered by a*5 Year/100,000*mile*(whichever is sooner)*Limited Warranty(excluding clutch driven plate).*Bodywork*is covered by a 12 Year*Anti-Corrosion Warranty. Paintwork is covered by a 3 Year Warranty.

I like the way it looks and I'm sure with a bit of dressing up it'll look awesome, as some of the GR cars on here do.
However I have concerns about this car already.
I suspect our "STi" will be fitted with a tweaked Forester XT engine and six speed box, more like a WRX engine with the volume turned up a bit. If they manage to get the 2.5 past regulations and fitted in similar form to what we already have then IM deserve to go bust!
The yanks will get their standard issue exploding engine, regardless of what happens.
And the Japanese will get a twin scroll unit and pillow ball suspension etc etc.

It's still a dog's dinner in the design aesthetics department. Just look at the front wing area, the awful lack of flow through from/to the side of the car, not one plane has been carried on to the next panel. Yuk!
The rear wing with the double flare starting ion the rear door is pretty horrible too and the shape of the rear lights is dictated by this which doesn't work at all.
The exhaust diffuser area looks like they then just ran out of time
I am sure they are employing blind people in the design department as no one could look at that and say 'great job guys'!

As much as any car manufacturer can assure a customer that any product will never fail on them. The good thing is that with Subaru you get a 5-year 100k warranty to fall back on if you do have a problem. We have other franchises here, and believe me, the warranty work on Subaru in comparison to other brands is next to zero, however, they are mechanical creatures, so you can never dial in 100% reliability into every car, but what you can do is ensure if a car has a problem you put it right at first touch point, be that the dealership or IM.
Having been involved with Subaru / IM since 1998, this for me is what has improved dramatically in the last 12-18 months.

But what's the Dollar:Yen exchange rate versus Pound:Yen rate?
Anyway, I'd consider one, but where's the hatch? Saloons are way less practical. And the spoiler looks a bit '90s too.
With a Golf GTI R (hatch) on the way at a similar price, it'll be interesting to see how they compare.

Make Subaru look like angles and the 2.5 look bulletproof.

Suggests the engine is a carry over from previous model !!! Surely MPG alone will kill it in the current market?

I have heard nothing to the contrary, and every other Subaru now comes with a 5-year warranty, so I am presuming/hoping it will do, I guess we will find out over the coming months before the 1st cars start coming through in May.
