It more than likely needin adjustments for all the changes, you really shouldnt boost the car when heavily modified and not adjusted for this

actually just turned out to be the air filter being too dense and not allowing enough air through

All sorted now and off for a new ecu and remap

Can you tell us the make and model of filter, so that others don't use/buy one?

I actually think this is wrong ? I fitted mine in this spot and nothing so put it in the pipe just above and all was ok and when I removed it my boost dropped so the smaller the restriction the more boost, the bottom pipe pretty much is useless and can vent to atmosphere can't it ?

Would love to but the name was worn away sorry, it was just a cheap aftermarket green sponge cone filter I think, as soon as I changed the sponge to a thinner one performance was restored in full

Yeah, just need to plug the port in the airbox (assuming not running a cone/pod filter IK).

Interesting. As, coincidentally, the EJ engine 'doesn't like' the HKS sponge mushroom pod filters. Must be too restrictive, like yours was.

I must admit, that sponge material just doesn't 'seem right', to be utilised as an air filter. (Nice, scientific reasoning, there. )

Sponge doesn't really filter that well, I'd bin it off and get a decent filter on there.

Anybody also heard that a thin sports sock folded twice actually works perfectly by being tied around the end of the maff directly when room for a cone filter is minimal ?

Sounds a bit daft but in theory I guess it's still filtering as a whole
