Cheers for the geuine info.. just trying to learn about the subaru as am a new owner of a wrx and also not a mechanic. Thats why am questions and the do and dont.

1) is your classic impreza a WRX (import) or a UK 2000 model? They are quite different beasts and it is good to know which you have before you consider any modifications. If unsure, post the chassis code on here and we will confirm the model for you.
2) If you have a fairly standard car, running the standard ECU with the MAF sensor, inductions kits are not a good idea. It is good to hear that you read some info of here and decided to re-fit the original air box and panel filter.
3) VTA (vent to atmosphere) Dump valves, again, if you are running a standard ECU and MAF sensor, have no benefit and in fact, will only add some potential problems such as running rich and bore wash.
Listen to people on here, preferably with high post counts. That isn't a 'I've got more post than you' brag. It is simply because they are more likely to have been around here long enough to know what does and doesn't work. Make your own decisions by all means but have all the facts and opinions to hand before you do.
And engine rebuild on these cars is not cheap.

The Forge VTA dump valve made the car rough at low revs when accelerating lightly - which is the majority of the driving on public roads! The sound was annoying after 1 day too, and I admit I used to love the sound when I was younger and still do to some extent. Just not every lift of the throttle and every gearchange!

I bought a car with a dump valve last Friday. Put the re-circ back on Saturday and it was a far better driving car. The sound was annoying after 1 day too, and I admit I used to love the sound when I was younger and still do to some extent. Just not every lift of the throttle and every gearchange!
Most, will then change back to the standard re-circ valve. Others remain in denial or just don't care about slow speed driveability.

thank you for the reply my impreza is a v reg 1999 uk model with a believe just a Prodrive exhaust. As far as i know everything else is standard.
