And when we are talking flex , with a properly designed caliper , I doubt you would see flex looking at the caliper , you would probably only see it happen with digital measuring equipment measuring 100th of a mm .

The only calipers I have seen flex are the small Wilwood calipers

Cool, thanks for clearing that up. I just always thought that a monoblock caliper was better than two pieces bolted together. I guess with modern technology it makes no odds.

I wonder if huge amounts of heat effect two piece calipers......but I doubt we could generate enough heat to see this.

Just out of interest what lets the OEM Brembos down I have read they are poor at dissipating heat which puzzles me.

Also why does nobody make a larger 2 piece disc upgrade for them or do they? I think Ian only does a 326mm 2 pieces disc upgrade for Brembos.

These are Porsche calipers , and they also used Ferrarri F40 calipers , they must have started doing there own in the last couple of years
Yeah I did notice the pictures of them machining the calipers on their website, thats why I was curious about what you were saying! No need to appologise though buddy, it's cool

the STi caliper (and the similar EVO, Volvo, Alfa, Nissan, etc that share a family design) are a production based set-up that relies on an overly bulky shape to maximise the 'looks', this shrouds the disc and causes heat retention issues in more extreme use........the likes of the PFC 2pce kits solve this issue pretty much totally in the use of very high quality bells and floating heat-treated rotors
these are far superior to pretty much everything else on the market in our experience and also offer a very good value for money upgrade when you compare with BBK's, etc.

Still confused. The % extra coverage of the disc by the Brembo is marginal c.f. APs or ALCONs and must be less than 6/8pots. Are you sure its not just that the standard Brembos tend to be run with solid discs.

Anyone run OEM Brembo callipers with 2 piece discs under rally or race conditions?

Do you know if the Alcon advantage extreme /Pro R monoblock caliper's pistons are also mild steel too?
