The future of AMG will be more cars like this. The days of big V8s are going, fuel is just too pricey to justify them for much longer.

It is true that Mercedes have been producing AMG trim and sports packs to go on their cooking models which I think they would be best off not doing, but this is a proper AMG.

That's common across the S3 R and A45 and M135

They all look about the same in. A fashion, only way yo make the a45 look diff is buy the aero pack which in turn give you a spoiler and bumper fins, I declined as it's over 1500 quid and even merc dealer said don't waste ya cash...

Been doing this car hunting for over 4 weeks now, nothing really took my liking but last night and this morning I feel excited to test drive the A45 something I've yet to feel in the others

Aero kit

Matt Paint at 1800 quid Option

Ok back from test drive....... Loved it

1. Seats are like saloon, recaros and out of the 3 cars ive tested the best fit for my lard ****, Very supportive.

Ok so he drove first, took me to some carpark then we swapped, i took it easy first, what i also like was the fact it had oil temp which turns blue once the cars ready for gunning, never had this before so a nice touch for me.

Anyway onto the motorway i went into sport and booted it, Fack me, as ity climbs from 2500 up it goes like clappers, BUT then it hits 5000 and pulls even harder what a rush it was, all the time the car in sport held onto the revs to 7000, and never changed gear i was in that zone where i could go from 50mph to 110 in 1 gear. Guy said i need it to change gear for you under thrashing i wondered why.

So we dropped off the motroway near ellend rd stadium round the roundabout, gun it he said, i floored it and then it happened BANG POP fizz, Now in the S3 i heard the farting sound i call it from stronic upshifts, The A45 goes 1 better it does this but bangs, I actually thought id hit something, That was it i was hooked, i popped and banged all the way along the m62 hehe.

Sounded awesome on tick over i think the extra exhaust you can add would be too much,it rocks the cabin mildly as it is.....i was like a boy with a new toy. I know some of you have this already but for me its a new thing.

Worth it for you to test drive and just experience it.

Car was ace, it has the Xfactor, so its ordered in the bag June delivery.......

I was thinking about the S3 Saloon, but in the back of my mind I'm hoping Audi make an RS3 Saloon with manual Gearbox, in the next 2 years.

LOL, bitten by the modding bug and the car isn't even here yet

Warning, people think modding Scoobs can be expensive, wait until you see what some of these AMG chaps get up to and what they spend. Especially in the US!

I have ended up going a bit mental with mine, but decided to calm down before I needed a second mortgage

BTW most Merc deslers are crap, if you have found a good one cling on to them for dear life!

What colour did you order btw? Apologies if you have already said, but I didn't see it.

hehe F1 I wont do the Mod it was just something I read on a forum, but its a nice gain from just an ECU remap.

I got Red with 19ich Black Wheels and Harmon Kardon Speaker upgrade, They discounted it by 3k and throw in the pain protection at 500 quid... Not a massive discount but after ringing 5 dealers im pretty much sure that it was good, as most cant discount the car as its AMG..... either that or they were all stubborn *******s

not any firmer than the scoob, I hazard a guess if you take the AMG suspension upgrade it will be daft.

Mine will be harder as im adding 19s, but I thought it was acceptable.... then u boot it and forget about it... the notes from the backend were ace

Good choice, AMG have really upped their game in recent years. A couple of years ago I test drove a V8 M3 and C63 AMG back to back and to me the AMG won hands down. The M3 had the most numb steering I've encountered on an enthusiasts car.

I can't wait to see what the new C class AMG is like. With 4wd for the first time in the UK I think it could be something very special.

Still think you should of got the aero pack you tight twad, makes it look individual and I'm sure that kit will make it stand out as a AMG as a lot of cars nowadays have the top of the range pack on them like m sport, AMG on the basic 2.0 litre cars.

I would of got grey too, not bloody RED, not my colour I'm afraid, but if your happy....

It's ticked all mine Lordy

Busts I couldn't afford paint and aero it's another 2.5k, also as I use this for business I need to stay shuttle, nothing more embarrassing than taking the CTO of Royal Mail or transport for London out and I turn up in some fancy thing, the shuttle ness as standard is just about right. It was the same with my scoob I didn't get the wing....

As for colour I had 2 choices that were free white and black, the wife's got white and we didn't want another, plus local to me is totally dynamic who wrap cars one of the uks best there literally end of my road, I will at some point have it wrapped Matt mountain grey and just keep messing with wraps,

Lordy it's got everything you need I feel
Room in the back
Goes like stink
4wd
40plus mpg if your good.
Any fuel
Cheap rd tax 175 we'll cheap in scoob terms lol
Insurance for me at 43 is 279 quid for the year and that's protected
The engine is fully forged rods pistons everything, and that remap kit from rev tech gets you 414bhp so when the RS3 comes out unless it's magical, the for 1800 quid I can beat it in stats

Gearbox is a hardened 7speed auto with sport and manual flappy paddles, it come standard with parking front and rear, phone prep with Bluetooth streaming , some very good speakers but I have added Harmon kardon for that extra oomph, auto lights wipers xenon lights half leather recaros electric operated

It's expensive, but special go test drive one

The best thing about an AMG/Mercedes is they know how to build engines. No chance of this shatting itself with ringland failure regularly and a good bit more power combined with more economy than Subaru can manage out of the box too. This is where Subaru could and should have been by now.

I know people think I get down on Subaru, but I was a loyal owner of the marque for 17 years and to see the mess they are in the the UK now makes me both sad and angry. I know they have gone after other markets, but they had such a great brand in the UK and suddenly seemed not to care!

Is it the same 7 speed box that's fitted to the E class?
We had an E350 (I think) for a week with that box and I found it almost dangerous.

Trying to make a quick exit out of side roads the box would almost stop halfway out to decide what gear it wanted!
Bloody scary at times.

I would be interested to see what real world mpg you get as 40+ just seems out of this world for a 4wd 350 brake car!

Sorry I ment to say white and red....

Mpg I agree but I,ll let you know in august, but to be honest the saloon scooby is rated at around 30 combined, and I could get that driving to London, 70 75 soon as you do 80 it's drinking, I could get 280 to 300 to a tank.

I'm please you like it F1 nice to see positive stuff from you hehe, I thought u were mr grumpy.....
The 7 speed will be based on it yeah but it's tuned to AMG I also have the E350 with 7 speed auto it's my daily driver, I find it ok, but what I don't like is take off it's just crap takes time to engage and then when it does you've got traction issues.....

I honestly don't think Subaru give a fack about what we think, if it was me I'd be shipping JDMs to the uk and not the EJ25 Shiite
We want what Japan get cheap tax etc, so why not, are Subaru daft or something. Only yanks want gas guzzlers, we British are bummed at the pumps.

At least VW AMG AUDI all have cars that unless your a die hard scooby man, just tick all the boxes now and are nice drives. All 300bhp with 40mpg, I honestly think that of this new STI is as the old one was but with a new body and interior it's failed before it's started

I may be wrong but I think it's a completely different box. It has a dual clutch system if I'm not mistaken and so far most reports about it are very positive.

Also seen a few posts on the MB forums where people are getting mid/high 30s mpg and not Driving Miss Daisy to do it either.

It's a pretty remarkable machine actually!

I too wouldn't worry about things like the aero pack, who cares if people mistake it for a cooking model, you are the one driving it and you will know and enjoy it for what it can do I have debadged my SL55 and if people think it's an SL350 then I couldn't care less as when I put my foot down I get a gentle reminder it isn't a 350 after all

I followed one of these today - was making a great noise!
He stopped at his house so I had a chat - has the £500 sports exhaust fitted.

Owner loves it and was raving about it.
I really like the look of these so went to my local Merc dealer today.

Had a sit in a white one ( not the colour for me even though my car is white...) -lovely seats, nice layout and quite roomy but I'm not sure about the 'tablet' stuck on the dash.

Anyway, had a play with the configurator and have specced one to £44k with everything I'd want (no carbon!) in red with silver wheels.

Showed the wife (she'll be driving it mostly and will replace the Alpina).
I won't put into too many words what she said but.... no, she's not keen....

So that's that.
Can't make her have a car she doesn't like the look of, never mind even driven!
Bugger.
