a) just be negative
b) try to put others of
c) jealous because you want one but can't justify the costs
Why choose another car? The car tax is high and you need 99ron but any money you lose over a m3/rs4/s3/135i/golf r (very bad) probably a45 amg etc in fuel and tax costs you should get back in the re sale value. And one thing that the Subaru offers that none of the others is exclusively. Its not for everyone but thats what I like its a second choice if you don't want to get a German car like most posers.
IMO its the best recipe/comprises ie 4x4/size/turbo engine/price etc.

I've emailed him but am awaiting a reply. This could be the be all and end all for me because I think the whole 'package' sounds good value, but if you have to go to Cheshire for any repairs......

You will need to hear from John to re confirm but you will not have to go to Cheshire for repairs etc. John has already confirmed this on another page. I am sure that he will explain the ins and outs of it but I doubt he will tell you the name of the company. He has spent time and money to set it all up and to have you go straight to them would be dining him his cut for his well deserved effort.

Norm wipes his bottom on 50s, and has between us had more cars than prob most people on this forum, In fact in the space of me owning 1 for 18 Months hes had 3 I think, and only just lately has ordered 2 NEW ones. And was a Subaru owner like me of the latest model before this one, so we both know the score.
Hes not being negative just real, I don't wanna drag up how this forum thread started because I think weve done it all to death.
Ill say it for one last time.
Subaru are good cars, with a major engine issue, See other Threads and American forums. They have just released a car that's cheapish, but still has the internals of a car from 2007, Low MPG, HIGH Tax and ok performance, Subaru did own the market for high power cars once upon a time, but alas they have fallen behind so far that VW AUDI BMW Have better cars now, that are not only faster but give better returns. ( lets not talk 0-60s ) there as quick ok
A Subaru is exclusive I,ll give it that, but they need to change it now for the better, concentrate on MPG 400BHP and get what they had back.
The new car is ok if your new to subarus, and we the OLD owners just offer trolling banter and advise.

Sorry guys, I have been away from the dealership the last 4 days setting up, doing and taking apart Cheshire show. I am finally back in tomorrow, and working through all my e-mails. If anyone else has mailed me, I'm sorry, but I will get a reply to you tomorrow as I am working through them from the oldest first.

Especially ones that drink every bit as much super unleaded fuel as a scooby, blow up turbos for fun (and then sometimes require a new engine), understeer like f**k, and have a boot like a glovebox.

But I agree, Subaru are not as good as the used to be and the others are getting better and better. The point that im trying to make is if you want something different and not german then its a fair price.
I have drove my dads new golf a few times now and its a very good car that has a lot going for it.......but I just think its s**t. If you have had subaru's before then iam sure there a bit of a let down but like you say if you haven't then there not bad.
p.s it sounds like you wipe Norms bottom.

I wasn't saying he didn't have any money, I was just responding to him saying earlier in the thread that he was getting a golf r because he couldn't justify the extra costs and there was no 99ron near him.

But there is no need for the abuse! I hope people enjoy the new Subaru as hopefully that will keep the brand alive and encourage them to start competing on the other issues where they have fallen behind on. I also got tired of the big wing jokes particularly when they started coming from clients

We have gone m135i for the wife because we were sick of the lack of v-power issue as she is all over the country and sat nav was a must plus servicing is now 10 mile round trip rather than 70 miles. On top of that the deal made it a no brainer plus insurance and tax half the price.
I have been in conversation with IM directors regarding power upgrades and built in sat nav and warranty. No feedback yet but if more wrote to them things might change. For now I am sticking to my 320R and starting to upgrade it and planning to forge in parallel in case she blows. We are also keeping out highly modded Terzo so I have a foot in all camps.
PS. Also tried the A45 but we hated the driving position and visibility over the BMW.
It's all a matter of personal choice.

ill come back to the brand, if they fine tune the cars for todays issues. If that new Scooby had been 400BHP and not 460 a year TAX I may have been tempted. I did eye up a few Cosworths, but the dealers near me are slowly on the decline too. Lets see what 2015 brings...

IMO Subaru could throw as much money as they like at it and make it the car we want it to be but people will still want the image that comes with the german cars.

Hmmmmm
Dealers is a problem, there used to be about 6 or 7 dealers in N.Ireland.
Several of them were smallish dealers, and IM were putting various demands on them about building big showrooms etc, using a particular brand of tiles even.
One dealer I used to go to pulled the plug due to IM and their pricing.
Basically he said he was losing too many deals due to euro imports, and IM refused to review pricing.
Now there is only one dealer

That would draw you in but they offered bigger bhp with the evo and that didn't seem to work for them. It would be nice to have the choice though.

Not many 400BHP cars out that are production.

There are two leagues here. If Subaru want to grow their base then yes I guess a majority would want the German image, but Subaru HAD a very good base that didn't compete with the German image because people wanted something different and those are the people that would come back. I for one hate the German image but they do everything so bloody well hence they are the leaders! I can't see why Subaru can't compete and still give us the Subaru image they did try with the diesel engine and the range of hatches but failed badly. They should concentrate on what they are good at and do it well!

You wouldn't have to trust Subaru uk, the warranty is with a independent business that covers from day 1 to coincide with the power increase. You would have to confirm this with John from Mangoletsi but iam sure its the case. In fact, better than that I wounder if you would still have the original 3 year warranty to fall back on as well, I would assume that the power upgrade will void the original one but you never know.
One of the many millions of things I am working on at the minute, is all the documents around the warranty, whilst also working on my next toy of a 400bhp new STi, that is coming together quite nicely. I was hoping to get it ready for NBO, but not going to be done and tested sadly.

I currently have around 4 Ford dealers on my door step but choose to travel 20 miles to one I trust.
As for the price - I still think £32,000 for a 340R with a 5 yr warranty is a cracking deal, especially as the 340R will take it below a 5 sec 0-60 (hate quoting 0-60 times but it's just an example).
It's also a proper manual gearbox and I personally think it looks a nice car.
Now, if the 5 yr warranty was bomb proof and people could see past the engine issues of previous models, then it's a really good package.
I really like the A45 AMG but it's just the price - I can afford it but can't really justify it.

If you live miles away from the specific dealer offering the 340 map and warranty what options do you have if something does go wrong though even if you can use 'specialists' you have got to find one and one willing to do it under the warranty which presumably means the backer will want value for money and may insist going back to the specific dealer?

Never owned an MY07, previous was an MY05 STI.
But the 330S was a much nicer place to be than the 05 car.
If the price is 3K for the bits, plus a 5 year warranty using a third party then I will say that is good value.
However, I'd question the 5 year bit.
For example, why would this new company cover the car for 5 years.
What are they covering, lets say you have a suspension problem after 12 months - are they footing the bill for everything, including the dealers labour?

The level of cover is exactly as per Subaru UK's level of cover on WRX STi for years 1,2 & 3, then to the same level on the rest of the UK Subaru range for years 4 & 5.

And Subaru could have addressed that by releasing a statement that didn't blame the owners for failures.
They should have held their dirty hand up, and recalled the cars and fixed them (there weren't that many to recall either)
The A45 is a real nice car, infact I'm just back from Mercedes as my wife just bought a new A200 sport and was collecting it.
They had a lovely looking A45 in the showroom, with a cracking looking C63 right next to it
