No, just to confirm, you do not have to bring it back to us if something should go wrong, nor to be serviced, although it would be great if you did. All can be done locally to where you are, by a Subaru dealer. If there is a fault with the ECU that the local dealer cannot diagnose, then we can do it remotely. Infact, as long as you have internet access and a laptop, it can be done from your home address.

It is been covered for 5-years, as that's what people asked for on here. We have the data confirming the number of warranty claims etc for the whole of Europe (not just the UK), so we know what to expect. I can assure you, we are not going to put the business name (nor will I put my name), on anything that is going to be high risk or could potentially damage the business, we are the longest serving and most succesful Alfa dealer in the UK, and I want my Subaru part of the business to achieve the same heights.
The level of cover is exactly as per Subaru UK's level of cover on WRX STi for years 1,2 & 3, then to the same level on the rest of the UK Subaru range for years 4 & 5.

A warranty firm is basically a insurance firm, if you pay £500 a year fully comprehensive and you hit a Bentley the insurance firm may have to pay out £200,000 all told for your relatively small £500.
The percentage of the £3000 that goes to the warranty firm is excepted and calculated on the basis that maybe (just a guess) 5% of all the cars they cover will need a average of £×××× amount.

We know what the cost per car sold in Europe is over a rolling 5-year period, so we know roughly what to expect per car, and I don't think even fans of the 2.5 engine would believe what the actual figure is, let alone those how shall I say, aren't fans of the 2.5 engine.
If I was allowed to publish the stats I have, it would bring to an end the conversation about the so-called "2.5 engine problem", but sadly I can't. I'm sure if someone plys me with enough Budweiser at NBO, it may slip out
![Lol1](images/smilies/lol1.gif)
Actually no, don't do that, I have to drive 150 miles home afterwards

There are two leagues here. If Subaru want to grow their base then yes I guess a majority would want the German image, but Subaru HAD a very good base that didn't compete with the German image because people wanted something different and those are the people that would come back. I for one hate the German image but they do everything so bloody well hence they are the leaders! I can't see why Subaru can't compete and still give us the Subaru image they did try with the diesel engine and the range of hatches but failed badly. They should concentrate on what they are good at and do it well!
Stopping now, before I get told off again

A handful have just been released for November delivery, but I am sure they will probably all be gone by the end of the weekend.

The engine is a lemon, the rest of the car may be fine but if you have a larger than normal possibility that the engine will go pop, and its at the end of its life as engines go so we know all its weaknesses, like the pistons, the oil pick up tube, liners, gaskets etc, then its going to put people off, hence why I didn't go out and buy one, I am not going to risk 30k on a car that probably won't have the warranty honoured by I.M. (which has happened quite a few times with the 2.5ltr EJ257), so most people will want to wait for the DIT twin scroll 2ltr engine that will probably end up in this car for the 2015 model (this being the 2014 model).
From the reports you see of the new wrx, that engine is actually better in every way over the EJ257, better power delivery, more usable rev range, better fuel economy, probably lower tax brackets etc and that is what people want, a (hopefully) reliable engine as part of the package and not worrying about if's and maybe's and then you have I.M., they are not the company they use to be, they run on a skeleton staff nowerdays, parts are also an issue, you should have stocks in the UK but you don't, you have waiting times and that puts people off.
If you want parts then you expect them to be there the next day, not 3 months down the line, so all in all, if the "full" package doesn't change (and this isn't pointed at the dealers), then people wont buy it.
Tony

The sticking point for me is when I do my little bit of research I see it differently. Take John from Mangoletsi for example, he has the hard facts and statistics for the engine failures at his disposal and he says its simply not the case.
There was a thread a little while back where a wheel on a new golf collapsed, never mind pistons, that could kill you. Then theres Mercedes who for years had one of the worst customer service around. If you look at the bigger picture then maybe the Germans will come out on top but Subaru aren't the only car firm to make mistakes.
The way I see it is people can come on to this thread and be positive which is contributing to a better future for Subaru or be negative which in no way does any good.
Just look at the work John is doing, if you go back to the start of this thread it was not looking that good. All you could read was the warranty it no good and it needs more power, well a few months down the line and we have it, and now John is talking about 400BHP.
With regards to you saying people won't buy it
![Ponder2](images/smilies/ponder2.gif)
p.s do you think I have blown enough smoke up John's **** to get a discount or should I keep going.

Just read the 2.5 engine thread, plenty of instances in there of engine failures before the end of the warranty, you expect an engine to last 150k minimum now, not 20-30k.
Chris, the hard facts are reported by the owners, if IM say no we are not covering it, then it wont be classed as a warranty claim, no warranty claim = not registered as a failure.
That engine still has issues, If it has issues then people will avoid it, and as for those buying, I know a few who have purchased one, they have never owned a Subaru before so.... what you have to ask yourself is how many people who have owned a Subaru before are buying one, and I bet its not that many

I'd recommend reading the thread at the top of this main page. There are a fair few failures on there. The issue for me is not whether the problem exists or not - there was clearly an issue if anecdotal reports are to be believed - but whether or not it was sorted when the 2011 batch came in. As far as I'm aware there have been no failures on those hatches and saloons.
Regardless of whether or not there's a problem I personally wouldn't worry buying a car off Mangoletsi. They're offering a custom mapped car and have a huge reputation to maintain. Even if all of those saloons blew up, perish the thought, I suspect they'd value that reputation ahead of a small dent in what must be a considerable profit.

This is the point Tony was trying to make with the reference to the DIT engines hopefully arriving here in 2015.
Problems or not, it's hard to get too excited about a largely unchanged engine being the power plant in this new car, regardless of how it drives.

I was referring to the problems not the cc. But I thought that it was agreed that the 2.5 engine was a great thing for the road with plenty of torque.
