Yep, it's another what's it worth thread.

I drove a 6 at the weekend and was pretty impressed, but it wasn't the best example, and it did make me realise the Impreza is maybe better than i thought it is.
I'd like to try a mildly modified one though, as it'd be a fairer compassion.
I'm trying to convince the Mrs it's a good idea to have both, but we're supposed to be getting a mortgage this year (so she reminds me every 2 minutes).
Can anyone hide an Evo for me if i get one, lol

Up to you obviously, but every car I tried after my first Impreza just left me wanting another Impreza. So that's why I am on number 4!
This one, although only a nearly standard 05 WRX, is a keeper.
The Evo is a great car to look at and as you no doubt know already, they will devour any corner in sight. But, the Evo 6 is getting on a bit now and a mate of mine really couldn't believe how expensive they were to run. That was coming from a Pulsar GTIR and then a 1995 WRX (tuned to 350bhp).
He sold it within a year and I saw him towards the end of last year, driving around in a 1998 STI Type R.
You're a Scooby man at heart Gary. I say keep it and get a mortgage. I assume you are renting at the moment? Get on the ladder mate, sooner rather than later.

Yeah renting at the moment. Not in a huge rush to buy as we're currently in a nice enough house, but it's something we'll have to do soon enough.
We could probably afford to do the Evo and the house, but don't want to be too stretched.
I could use some of our deposit money.... but i rather like having my ***** attached, and don't want to be wearing them as earrings!!!

ive had an evo in the past and all you will be doing is basically buying the same car, i found the evo more expensive to run and the components weaker and they suffer from rust quite badly on the earlier models.
if you sell be prepared to run the gauntlet of timewasters and idiots too, your pricing is bang on id say though, but sadly some people havent a clue of what a decent impreza is.

My mate has a Evo 6 makinen and as above, its got that much rust underneath it's shocking! So make sure you have a good look when buying.
Not sure on maintenance but heard they do require alot more than the Subaru
Good luck with the sale,I'm sure you will regret selling it a couple months on though.

Now go on MLR and ask the same question...or I'll save you the trouble.
Impreza is a chav car
Impreza is poor man's evo
Just try one first I'd say, they aren't for me but others love them.remember you are asking the question on a Subaru owners forum, people tend to think their car is best only due to owning one. Some people on here swear blind the wrx is faster the sti...

As an everyday car an EVO 6 would be a backwards step compared to the Newage STI you own now but as a weekend car, it would be the EVO everyday for me.
Gary, as you know the opinions on this board will always be bias towards the Impreza(stands to reason)....Have you posted on MLR to get the flip side?

It'd be a daily car for the Mrs, and a weekend toy for me.
I'll certainly put something on the MLR, as like Tommy says it'll be a bias opinion on each, but with a mix of comments it might have make a decision.
I suppose I'm paranoid that I'll get rid of the Impreza, not get on with the Evo, and struggle to find another Impreza as good as mine. (That's not me being big headed about my car, but I know there are a lot of ****ters out there)

Thanks I've spend a lot of time, effort and money to get it to where it is now, so it's gotta be worth that money.
Really fancy an Evo VI, but it's soooooo hard finding a good one.
There is an outside chance I've got an option on one which could mean I get the Evo and keep the Subaru, which would be ideal. And greedy!

This insurance alone would kill ya!

Hard to compare a standard Evo 6 to a highly modified Impeza, but so far I'm impressed.
Feels very light and nimble, and great power delivery. Love the seats.
Handling is superb, even better than i expected.
However, it feels quick rather than fast, and feels basic compared to the Newage.
