Removing yellow bits on Bugeyes

Has anyone tried to use the plastic tint that is designed for use on the outside of the light (mainly rear light clusters) to spray on to the reflectors???
Would it be heat tolerant?
My thinking is such: Like the idea of spraying the indicator reflector and side light, but don't want it to be too dark, this tint stuff should give a progressive shade that would still allow a small amount of the reflector to still work.
Also Halfords sell a remover should it go all Pete Tong
Any thoughts - I might pluck up the courage this weekend as I have had the bulbs ready for a few weeks
Duncan - are you around in the next few days so I can look at your lights? - P.S. The exhaust is still alive and kicking

Tempted to put the orange globes back in as they will be a lot less noticeable now the reflector is matt black; anyone else done this?

Well all finished and back on the car. I painted the reflector and removed the orange bits and IMHO looks fantastic no digi camera so can't post a pic yet. Also a silver car and looks for money very hard to beat. Followed instructions to the letter and had a beer to finish up!

Pictures to follow...
I used the black rear lamp tint - worked a treat after 4 coats.
I've got a silver WRX 02 and I just tinted the indicator reflector, and not the rest - Looks good, as the grille and swage lines of the wing run along the bottom of the indicator (I suppose the designer had thought about this)
For the record... I just tinted this bit only so I could do it in stages and see what it looks like before I tint the lot, I also used the tint as I can take it all apart again and clean the stuff off if I want to return the lights back to normal, for sale (if and when)
If anyone is about to try this I can recommend the tint for silver cars, not too sure about other colours, but you can get different tint colours. Worth a try in blue tint on a WR-Blue??
Jas
PS - I wish somebody had told me about the mould line in the headlamp glass- I thought I had cracked the bugger when I separated the two halves.

DT
Thought I'd spare your blushes and not name names!![Wink](images/smilies/wink.gif)

I agree with DT - bin the orange globes and paint all of the plastic "chromed" bit that comes out with the front half. The indicators aren't as bright as previously, but with the Philips bulbs they meet the legal requirements so you get no hassle (for that
) from the Boys in Blue.
Carl
Yes! I originally thought that they would be possible to cut up using a pair of tin snips and remove the bits through the hole the bulbs fits in. Half an hour later I had loads of bits in the headlamp and very few bits out, so I gave up and opened them up. The orange cover is very strong and awkward to hold inside the main headlamp.
