also depends on your budget and plans

And I own neither but have had both in the past....
Define better?

We all know that if your after big power then the sti is a much better base, but not every one wants to spend big bucks chasing 400+ bhp

So if your happy around the 280-300 mark as a daily driver a wrx is better for the reasons ive already stated. Fact.

Sti classics are a different story, but newage? not avin a bar of it

according to the graphs you posted the sti is still quicker to 60? 5.3 for the wrx ppp and 5.0 for the STANDARD sti? most of the in gear times arent that far apart either. remap the sti and it just steps up a level again from the wrx. its a stupid comparison in the first place.

Not everything is about pub bragging rights.
Its about drivability and real world performance, hence if your running moderate power a smaller turbo is better.

Your wasting your time trying to tell them the benefits of early spool, early peak torque and well matched gear ratios, just let them get on with it until they meet a tuned WRX and get their **** handed to them.

Though i suspect that's why so many STI owners go for big power because tried it on with a WRX and couldn't comprehend how the WRX was in front.

i own a wrx and i have no doubt an sti is better, its the next model up from a wrx so its obviously gonna be better same as a wr1 or a spec-c is better than an sti

i couldnt afford an sti at the time of buying my wrx but having decided to do a big power build i can make the car my own with the parts i choose-yes it might seem a waste of money to some people but guess what..........its my money

you dont get the wr1/spec-c boys calling the sti boys so why do the sti boys think its ok to slate the wrx owners.............makes no sense to me but if thats what people want to do with their time then thats up to them-if you have to make yourself happy by mocking people lesser off than you than that really says something about you doesnt it

i love my wrx,its ****ing quick, sounds awesome, looks the part and has porsche brakes which i think look the nuts and thats all that matters to me,its not an sti and its not a standard wrx either-its my car done the way i like it

So for more 0-50/60mph kind of performance in a re mapped blobeye it wouldn't be worth having a turbo from an sti fitted?....

when i say better i mean its a better spec than a wrx

to say its a better car depends on who you ask,if you ask my mrs if an impreza sti is better than her ford ka she will say no as the running costs compared to hers would be £££££

if you ask an old man if its a better car then say his rover 416sli he would probably say no as its vulgar, loud and expensive

if you ask a tuner if its better then he would probably say yes-so each circumstance is different

So as I’ve always said my wrx is more fun to drive than my sti.

I have owned a bug eye wrx, which i tuned to 325 bhp. I now own a blob eye sti ppp which is standard.

Both were great cars, the wrx was a little more wild due to having full decat and a loud exhaust. I had killed a few sti's at crail and the likes. The sti is a little quieter but pulls all day long and handles very well.

At the end of the day I wanted "the full package" something only the sti gives you as standard.

WRX brakes are rubbish, suspension is not as firm- mine use to look as if it was angling for the moon everytime i put the boot down.

With the sti I have a lot of options for easy power if i desire, not so in wrx.

To be honest as a toy the STI is the one to have. As a daily driver / quick car WRX is a better choice.
I had a hawk WRX, very good car but my blob STI is by far the better car to DRIVE.
The bikers among us will understand this better than car drivers. It's easer to ride a slow bike fast than a fast bike slow.
Not saying a WRX PPP is slow btw.

Well I went from new age wrx to widetrack jdm sti and sti is better car but not in all situations, the dccd in sti and better diffs make a difference in handling as under steer is not anywhere near as bad as wrx but I like a rear biased car as oversteer is easier to control, for motorway cruising and comfort the wrx was better, so it really depends what you want.
