scooby can be converted, as all cars can, but some work better on the system than others. An electronic system which you would need will cost at least £1500 fitted, this will also mean probably having to change the ecu on the car.
You will definately notice a performance loss, but if you r wanting to give the car a burst then you simply hit the button and change over to petrol.
if you get the gas fitted at home they should put tank and pump in for free, although you will have to pay rental on it per week.
gas in at home is about 25p, compared to 37p at the pump so it is quite a saving!!
mpg..... if you are getting 20mpg on your subaru on petrol, then expect to get about 16mpg on gas....the bigger the engine the better.

I believe gas companies are not allowed to supply gas direct to the public specifically for use in vehicles, domestic heating gas whilst its the same stuff is taxed @ a lower rate.
If you go down this route make sure you have a legitimate use for it, ie central heating or a Hot Air Balloon. a Balloon would certainly explain your high consumption. With a balloon you would also require a pump, it would take for ever to fill it without one, I know because I remember filling balloon tanks that way.
The suggestion is not as daft as it sounds, It does work out a lot cheaper, you just have to watch out for the excise man but the beauty is , unlike diesel their is no colour trace element in the lower taxed version as with agricultural (red )diesel & of course you never bother to keep your petrol reciepts, always pay cash @ the garage therefore you have no record of how much gas you have used, if they say theirs only a couple of garages near you selling gas you reply that you dont like the stuff & run the car mainly on petrol etc etc. Perhaps get together with a group of friends & form a Scooby Balloon Club, you could probably get a fairly tatty balloon for 5-6000, then you just need somewhere not to public for the Bulk Tank, if joe public see u filling cars someone is bound to let on

My Dad's firm have a tank cos they have loads of cars that run on LPG. I think it works out at about 28p/l which isn't too bad. I have had a look at the Autogas website and there is more info on there and on the Power Shift website.
