Meeting at Lydden

Hi Nito
Too Small!!!!!!!!!!!!
Seem to remember Will Gollops 700bhp 6R4 Metro and Johnny Herbert in a Tyrrell F1 finding a way round round it!
There's no way we'd manage to get on to it tho... just a dream!
Used to race there in Production RallyX in 1990/91 - until Bissett sold it out to Bl00dy McLaren and they put a stop onmost everything.
Be good tho wouldn't it....!

I was looking at Lydden track the other day. It looks a bit too small for a scoob from what I saw but it'll be interesting to see what sort of price they charge to rent out the circuit. I'd be up for it.

Hello !
I saw in the "Was it you" thread that p1 media (greg) and RussP were talking about a meet at Lydden Hill circuit.
Well the Enemy's parents live in Dover (West Hougham) and we are there alot, so I would be up for some tyre screeching sideways action at Lydden in the MY01 (as long as i can get the loss of power sorted out before!!!!!!).
If you see me i have a WRC Blue MY01 WRX reg . Giz a hoot !!!!!!!!

My brother will be racing his rallycross mini there on April 16th in the class 5 modifieds.
I raced there under the minicross rent a drive scheme a couple of years and had an excellent day although I did came second to last.

if theres a way theres a will, if we get enough people saying they want to come along and use it then we can certainly give it a go at changing there minds. I'b be happy as a resident of Lydden to give em some stick

The Enemy goes to the hairdresser in Faversham frequently, and on the way to West Hougham I usually cut thru Lydden from the A2 to get to Dover.
If i see you I will flap appropriately !!!!!

i have spoken to a mate who drives a puma about the track day. not just any puma but the racing puma that lapped quicker than (i think) a 22B at a silverstone track day last year. i believe there was a mention of it on scoobynet a couple of months back.
he is interested in coming so i think we need to whip his glorified fiesta'a a$$ (hehehe).

Try getting past the "Wooten Village Militants Association" or whatever they call themselves!
I know tha control passed some time ago to the South East Motorbike club or someone - but who owns it nowadays? Did MacLaren unload it when they couldn't get permission?
Mabs Bank still gives me nightmares....

okey dokey guys
as a "Lydden" resident I shall start making enquiries and see what is what with the circuit, as far as I no no-one uses it during the week so the other Village Militants should have nothing to complain about if it were a week day. Will keep you posted.

Well we could have a look at Easytrack for either track days or Airfield days. Not sure if there is any local other than Brands Hatch.
There one at Brands may 2nd (169 quid) and one on 9th July (99 quid) - they are open to any car - check

Well boys we'll have to see what we can do then, don't suppose there are any airfields we could fly about on down this way .... is Manston open to the public ?? or perhaps Barretts Motorsport could help us out ?

Well lets see what we can come up with, there is supposed to be the SE meet on April 29th, perhaps we could discuss then.
Still need to find a Venue.... Canterbury sounds best, anyone else want to meet there ?
Greg
PS I'd be happy to make all the arrangements

Hi Greg,
we can chat more about a venue for the SE meet and some sort of track/karting event and more at the surrey meet. Hopefully we'll be able to come up with some good ideas!
Nito
ps..speaking to Russ we may come out and meet up with you and travel up M20 way to surrey, I'm just waiting for confirmation from a Canterbury owner before we go ahead and confirm which route! But then we get to miss out Detling Hill I love that little windy downhill bit

"Manston Airfield?"
Don't you mean "London-Manston International Airport?"
No chance. I asked a while ago if i could use the grass bit the ATC use in order to try test my Formula One Hovercraft for a couple of hours. "Sure" they said, "£800 a day"
Not confident.

Hello Druddle & others
I think you'll find that Easytrack don't have the Brands Hatch dates anymore. Apparently Brands have clamped down on non specific car event people ie. those that have multi-car attendance and they've all been barred from hiring the track. I know that the SIDC day in November is OK 'cos it's a one car club. This applies to Oulton Park and the other venues that the Brands Hatch group own.
I hope I'm right with this info. you may want to check.
